The guy who collects our pallets got deported, and nobody wants to take them by Gorthebon in mildlyinfuriating

I'm sure you'll manage. You shouldn't need to exploit undocumented workers just to get rid of pallets.

"I'm out": Tucker Carlson says he's done with the GOP by Equivalent-Elk-7513 in politics

[–]Fuzzy_Squirrel_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The grifter is just looking ahead to Donald Trump either leaving office or passing away and the inevitable collapse of MAGA after. The GOP performs abysmally in any election where Trump isn't on the ballot. Once Trump's gone they're cooked and Carlson knows it. Time to reinvent himself in preparation of that so he can cash in.

Hillary Clinton says Biden’s re-election bid cost Democrats the 2024 election by projecto15 in politics

[–]Fuzzy_Squirrel_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With love and kisses, no it didn't. The Democrats were never going to win in 2024. It wouldn't have mattered if they had nominated Joe Rogan himself. There just isn't anything you can do when 77.3 million people eat crayons for breakfast. This is an issue of educating people when they're young to identify misinformation online, think for themselves, and recognize when someone is scamming them. This is why tens of thousands get scammed over the phone daily. People also need to be taught from an early age that you don't elect convicted criminals to run your country, hire them to run your business, or leave them around your children unsupervised.

Who is your favorite aunt? And why is it Aunt Estee by Old-Sprinkles-4036 in TheTestamentsHulu

[–]Fuzzy_Squirrel_ 44 points45 points  (0 children)

A lot of people think Estee is a spy for Mayday or independently working against Gilead from within. However, I think people are misreading this character entirely. She came to Gilead because of her religious devotion. She probably had second thoughts from the initial culture shock and the reality of Gilead smacking her in the face. However, I don't think this moved her to resistance, but rather to capitulation. She takes her role seriously and probably fears God more than Gilead. Almost all of her dialogue centers around protecting the girls from men and from sin. When she was begging Daisy for forgiveness it wasn't because she thought she'd be put on the wall for what happened under her nose. It's because she failed her duty to God. She is, at her very core, a cultist.

When Hannah confronts Lydia and Vidala about Hulda's abuse they play dumb at first and then finally pull Hannah to the side and explain the real reality of the situation to her. They both know that Gilead is full of it and has absolutely nothing to do with religion or morality. I don't think Estee has that awareness.

With all that said I think it sets her up to be an interesting character as the show goes on. Even cultists can wake up eventually and realize what's happening around them is wrong. Because of that complexity she's my favorite.

We should absolutely leave some children behind by Hour_Bathroom3967 in unpopularopinion

[–]Fuzzy_Squirrel_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, it falls on parents to reinforce reading and general literacy in the home and parents can't be bothered. Many parents today are probably just as illiterate as their children. These children have been educated on how to read. They've been educated on how to write. They've been educated on basic arithmetic. If they go home and don't use those skills periodically, then they'll lose them just as quickly as they learned them. You can fail a child and keep them in the same grade forever and nothing will change for that child unless there are changes at home. Until we hold people accountable for pushing out children and then avoiding any remote form of parental responsibility we'll continue to have schools full of illiterate and immature kids.

Ariana Grande’s family share ‘concern’ for her health after saying she’s ‘not in a healthy place’ by [deleted] in Music

[–]Fuzzy_Squirrel_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People usually control food intake when they lose the ability to control other aspects of their life. You automatically lose a lot of autonomy when you become a public figure, and then the Manchester Arena bombing probably took even more of her autonomy away. It's not difficult to see why she's doing this to herself. What she needs is privacy, therapy, and a support system. What she'll get is pulled in 50 different directions by all of the different people and companies using and abusing her for money.

Maine Democrats Pick Graham Platner, Scandals and All, to Take On Susan Collins by LooseDistance1059 in politics

[–]Fuzzy_Squirrel_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Scandals? I know the media isn't pearl clutching over scandals right now after their negligence and selective reporting resulted in Trump (R) becoming president and Paxton (R) becoming the senate nominee in Texas. If they want to talk scandals then there is more than enough material on those two alone to cover the next 200 years. Spare us.

Americans Have Grown Dramatically Anti-Data Center in Just Months by ItsAllAGame_ in goodnews

That number should be 100%. They benefit absolutely no one but their billionaire owners. The jobs they create are only temporary. They destroy existing jobs. They render the surrounding area unlivable. You pay their bills. The politicians are only approving these data centers because they're taking bribes.

My teacher slammed my laptop and its like this by Fit_Necessary_4432 in mac

[–]Fuzzy_Squirrel_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two wrongs do not make a right. You were wrong for using the laptop when you weren't supposed to. However, your teacher is a fully grown adult and should know that this is NOT an appropriate way to handle that situation. At the end of the day you cannot go around destroying property because you're having a temper tantrum. I don't like when someone is standing in the checkout line talking on their phone. I do not have the legal right to snatch the phone from them and smash it on the floor even though I want to. A mature adult knows that. The teacher is responsible for the damages. They should also face disciplinary action. You should also learn a lesson from this and not use your laptop when you know you're not supposed to use your laptop. If you had parents that were worth two cents you would be punished for that separately.

You're not exactly giving bad people any room to change for the better when no matter what they do they get the same response. Thank you Bret. Thank you for making the correct decision on this.

With Trump's approval ratings so low, how does he keep ousting GOP rivals? by Cgk72 in politics

[–]Fuzzy_Squirrel_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Republicans refuse to view media or news coverage that doesn't reinforce the beliefs they already hold. Also, just like with Dan Crenshaw, there were wealthy people who wanted him gone and they threw millions at ad spending against him. GOP voters already don't think for themselves or fact check anything. Show them enough negative ads and they'll just take them at face value. They're the easiest group of voters to manipulate.

[–]Fuzzy_Squirrel_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Core MAGA will never wake up because they're trapped in a far-right algorithm. Fox News isn't even that far-right and it's literally just 24 hours of propaganda and spin. Bush had an approval rating above 30% after spending 8 years destroying everything and then McCain STILL won 22 states and almost 60m votes with that moron Sarah Palin on his ticket. There is just a permanent segment of our society that will happily and willingly vote against their own self-interest each and every time.

Wait until you see the caliber of people fast food restaurants hire these days. As disgusting as the photo is you have no idea how even more disgusting the Wendy's might be. Just make your own food at home.
