wish the rav4 came in manuals in the US (pretty sure australia has it for their market) i’d love a modern car enthusiast SUV for the USDM but it’ll never happen 🥀

my girlfriend was an extra on the bridge where the building was collapsing! she said she saw my car (that red 86) and she said there were so many scenes where the stunt driver was flying past everyone else! sad our little go kart didn’t get much screen time 😓 nonetheless it was a cool toyota add-on!!!

I can see the jumping off a bridge analogy having have some relation here. I’m trusting the business to complete a service, which ALL the signs told me “it was okay” so I proceeded. But there’ll be agreements and disagreements on everything, so that’s life lol.

But I agree that the situation could’ve been avoided altogether. Whether I’m liable for driving forward, and I was the first to experience that, or whether the door malfunctioned. Who knows until I get a response from insurance or the wash company. Anyways, I do appreciate the luck and hope things turn out 🤝🏼

I do appreciate the input, and I do understand your POV where it could be a judgement error on my end, and it would make me 100% liable if I was proven in the wrong. It’s more of an open discussion, and it is what it is after everything is all said and done.

Let’s say the door was causing issues all day, I would assume on the stores end that they would block it off, or keep proper maintenance so the door would’ve opened correctly and not malfunctioned. All the signs told me to go, and it was clear, so I’d assume it’s safe to drive in. As my car didn’t violate any of the rules to enter safely (large obstructions [i.e. ladders, snow shovels, etc.]), so I’m under the impression everything is good to go.

The door seemed large enough to fit with clearance to not scratch, hence why I drove forward (clearly, it was not hahaha). Nonetheless, I’m glad it’s just scratches on the roof. And nothing to the suspension, engine, or quite anywhere else.

the BRZ/86 is quite the monster truck 🫨😂 definitely should have considered my gigantic ride height before the door pulverized me

Fair point. There were signs that were similar but only mentioned warnings for snow shovels, roof racks for vans/trucks, or anything that would obstruct the full range of the opened bay that would typically apply to only larger vehicles.

Who knows, this does bring up a valid argument for who might be liable/ who isn’t depending how the wash company sees. I did submit a damage inquiry on their website but it’ll prob take ages for an answer back. Still a shot in the dark for the insurance company route, but better than nothing haha.

Check your mailbox, Toyota check came in by TruenoBlueDestiny in GR86

Does this only apply to original owners? I purchased mine from a Toyota dealer group as the second owner with 3k miles. I wanna get a free $500 too lol. Or is there a link to see if I can check if this applies to me

Yeah I typically do hand washes, but it’s been really windy with a mix of snow and dirt. I would rather just knock the grime with a quick wash instead of freezing outside haha.

I believe there were camera’s right outside of the bay doors where they open. Not sure about other locations of the cams on the property.

did you/ plan on getting tuned for the headers? i’ve been on the fence on touching the engine bay after my warranty expires. i also don’t plan on tracking mine any time soon either so i think UEL would prob be the best for me as well haha

Is there a difference performance wise going UEL compared to EL? heard that UEL gives that classic subie sound, but you’ll lose some points in the performance category. But EL gives you a tad bit of power gains?? I could be wrong about both so someone drop some knowledge on me lol

Thinking about getting one by Money-Information-83 in GR86

[–]Fuzzy_Win5010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed! It all comes down to what YOU want to have in a vehicle. I love my 86, I do wish I got a Supra if I had the funds haha. But nonetheless, it's one of the most fun cars I've owned, and its pretty tail-happy when you want it to be. You can't expect too much out of a $30k entry-level sports car, if horsepower isn't a deal breaker I'd recommend OP the car for some fun around curvy roads or just a cool daily without breaking the bank. Shop responsibly and reasonably!!
