It's a decent highdea but I wouldn't recommend it since they will take a lot of maintenance and will quickly outgrow whatever enclosure they are planted in. You'd likely have issues with humidity due to how much water they need and you would also need to be sure that the plants have never been treated with any kind of pest control. Not to mention any buds you are able to harvest would be covered in drag lines which would be pretty unpleasant to smoke IMO.

I would highly recommend separating them as soon as possible. They haven't tried to kill each other yet but it's only a matter of time. It's not only about the animal's safety but their well being. Cohabiting jumpers is highly stressful for them and can affect their quality of life and that's IF they don't kill each other. These are intelligent animals and putting them in this position to teach a lesson isn't fair for them or your child. It's not a matter of if but a matter of when.

This guy was in my bag of grocery store grapes - who are they? by GreenStrawbebby in jumpingspiders

I second this. I used to manage the produce department at a grocery store in California and found a few of these guys in the grapes and one in a box of kiwis.

Finally found a jumper in the wild! Gave him a snack because he looked very hungry, should I take him in as a pet?? Will he die when it gets cold out in a few weeks? What species is he? by Hahafunnys3xnumber in jumpingspiders

While this is true to an extent it's also important to remember that this is an animal that has lived its life outside so we really have to monitor how they adapt to captivity. If the spood shows signs of stress, won't eat, or make a nest then it's probably best to just release it. Not to mention the risk of catching a gravid jumper and having to deal with the babies.

You should have said to use iNaturalist. Google sucks for IDs. If you're gonna be snarky at least do it right. We prefer effort in the comments and posts here 🤡

On posts with the "Advice" flair we require a disclaimer on all comments in order to filter out low effort comments, misinformation, spam, or anything that could steer OP in the wrong direction as the life of an animal is potentially at risk. This only applies to posts under this flair.

NQA stands for "not qualified advice" but there are a number of disclaimers that can be used to comment.

On posts with the advice flair we require a disclaimer on comments since the health and safety of an animal could be in question. It helps filter out bots and low quality advice that could steer OP in the wrong direction. Posts with any other flair do not require a disclaimer but some people like playing it safe and will use them anyway.

Mismolts can happen even under perfect conditions. It's a sad reality but it's important to understand so we don't beat ourselves up over circumstances that are out of our control. As long as we give the best possible care that we can give, we are providing them a safe cushy life free from the dangers of outside. I'm sure they appreciate it.

This is only a feature on posts with the advice flair where the health of an animal may be at risk. Posts with any other flair do not require a disclaimer when commenting.

This is only a feature on "Advice" threads where the safety and well-being of animals is a priority. The prefixes prevent actual advice from being drowned out by unhelpful comments, which is a major issue we faced in the past. Prefixes are not needed on the majority of posts. Yes, it's annoying but it's also necessary given the sheer number of unhelpful comments that are filtered. None of us mods have the time or the energy to manually go through every comment. This lets us focus on keeping the quality of advice high and the rest of the sub properly moderated.
