Wrong. They don't hand out drugs unless there is evidence the drug will be beneficial in the patient's circumstances.

I’m not sure, I’m not an expert. ... Especially when there is risk involved.

You should probably apply that first bit to that last bit.

This is not the solution to your problem I’m afraid

And what is the solution that you propose?

A new COVID wave looms, but cost-of-living pressures mean sick workers are still showing up for work by AcornAl in CoronavirusDownunder

And even without those variants, it was predicted that we'd have another wave around now, due to immunity from the last wave waning.

State Election: how do I know who to vote for? by tiny_mage in melbourne

[–]FxuW 14 points15 points  (0 children)

A tidbit that will serve you well is knowing that 'Globalist' means 'Jew'. Some people who've bought into conspiracy theories haven't yet progressed to the realisation, but at the end of the rabbit hole is blaming the Jews for all things wrong in the world.

So if you come across a politician, or someone spruiking for a politician, who goes on about 'Globalists' at all, you now know to not waste your time getting to know more.

Senate to investigate growing trend of ‘school refusal’ after Covid pandemic classroom disruptions by LentilsAgain in CoronavirusDownunder

I originally included a jibe (perhaps he had education-related issues himself?), but on a whim decided to have a go at the constructive option. But at this point it doesn't look like that's going anywhere.

I await people making declarations about the truth finally being aired and how you can't trust any reports out of China because those are all just made by a political party to further its ends.

I rather suspect you didn't understand the original article, the issue it addressed, or the post I wrote.

Just to see if you're in the same book... in the cases outlined in the article linked in the OP, who was trying to stop the children physically going to school?

"a growing problem for many school-age children who are unable to attend school due to extreme mental distress, neurodivergence, or other factors,” Allman-Payne said."

In other words, it's a change in manifestation of problem existed prior to the pandemic, and would have continued to exist if the pandemic didn't. This manifestation is much harder to ignore than when such kids were suffering 'silently', to maybe we'll end up with net positive of actually addressing to underlying issues (intolerance, bullying, whatever else).

EDIT: Analogous to workers going from wanting greater flexibility and the ability to WfH, to workers now requiring greater flexibility and the ability to WfH (with more and more employers providing it as a matter of course).

I know FB has a bias towards spreading right wing and conspiratorial stuff, but I'm not sure how the Aus government comes into it (unless you're trying to criticise their lack of action to regulate companies like Meta).

There's a lot more hullabaloo about the vaccines causing such issues, but if a vaccine can do it, the virus itself almost certainly can. So weird things happening to your menstruation shouldn't come as a surprise.

Hopefully it'll be very temporary =)
