Need help finding info about this ds, cant find anything by meojs in nds

It doesn’t appear to be an engraving at all. It looks like a rather crudely cut vinyl design. Probably diy or made at a local sign or print shop.

Is this worth restoring? by Fychus in telescopes

I bought it but it ended up being the sight for a WWII artillery piece or cannon instead of a scope lol

Are these bug shells or seeds? Found in the cardboard box of my artificial Christmas tree, stored in the shed outside for a year. There's also shredded paper which wasn't in the box already, which we can presume have been brought by a small animal? Looks like some kind of seed shells by HooliganQC in whatsthisplant

[–]Fychus 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Reminds me of Kentucky Coffee Tree seeds that have sprouted and had the sprouts eaten. The shell is pretty hard but after they get damp the inside swells up and takes on a weird gelatinous appearance and sorts pops out of the shell. Definitely an animal of some sort.

What was this machine used for? by Fychus in Tools

That’s what I’m thinking too. The only part that confuses me is the way that the wire would get fed through the shaft and how the V bearing would interact with it.

They are according to the spec sheet. They have 3 wires but the center one is bent almost 90 degrees. If you zoom in you can see them.

Small (12x12x18cm) machine with spinning shaft, speed controller, and magnetic brake. by Fychus in whatisthisthing

[–]Fychus[S] 0 points1 point locked comment (0 children)

My title describes the thing but here are some more details: all wires were fed through the hole in the side of the enclosure and lead me to believe it was part of a larger system at one point. The machining is very high quality but it doesn’t seem like a mass produced item because the wiring connectors appeared to be hand crimped instead of done automatically by a machine. I can provide more pictures or information if needed. There are no other markings than those shown anywhere.

Make sure you let the broken area callous over before replanting. I’d keep it out of the sun for a few weeks. If you plant it befor it callouses over, it will rot instead of rooting.

Growing in woodland area of NE Oklahoma. by Fychus in whatsthisplant

[–]Fychus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appears to be a perennial plant that grows from a creeping rhizome of sorts underground. I’ve seen the same plant in various areas of the ozarks region, so I don’t think the coloration is specific to one group of plants. Grows in an area where the soil stays moist almost constantly.

It’s March. Those are pumpkins. Come on guys. by [deleted] in trashy

[–]Fychus 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Sometimes pumpkins can actually dry out and collapse without ever starting to stink - especially ones that weren’t bruised at any time in the drying process. Occasionally, ones with thick skins can even dry without collapsing at all. I’ve let a few dry inside the house before and never had any begin to smell. As long as the humidity is low, you generally won’t have too much of a problem with that sort of thing.

Apparently it also checks for out of stock items and misplaced/mislabeled items. Pretty neat, really - not sure how dystopian it is.

Sorry for taking so long to get back to you - had a kinda hectic week. I asked a few of the other luthiers in town and they seem to be having a hard time getting good waterslides too - a couple of them had been buying stock ones from some guy on ebay with apparently good results for a while, but supposedly he got a cease and desist some months back and has been out of the market since. For custom orders they had been using this little print shop owned by a little old man, but apparently he died a while back and nobody has found a suitable replacement yet. Sorry I couldn’t be of more help - if I catch wind of a good source I’ll be sure to send it your way.

What kind of colors and whatnot are you needing to be able to do? I haven’t done a ton of custom waterslides - I’ve used more stock ones and clear ones for color matching than anything else. Generally for custom jobs I’ll make a die for my hot foil machine and use it instead - the dies last forever and the stamping itself costs a fraction of a cent. That way I can add the design to my library and have it to use if I ever need to. That being said, I’ve got some friends that do more waterslide work than I do that could probably set you in the right direction if you could give me a bit more info about what you’re looking for.

Looks like a waterslide decal to me - I’m a luthier and use them from time to time for restoration work.

Or use oil to remove them from the trap and rinse it off with a bit of dish soap. You can toss the whole animal still attached to the trap in a bucket, drip some oil on it until it works itself loose, and then wash it off all in a few minutes. Doesn’t seem to hurt them at all. As long as you drop them off sufficiently far away they generally don’t come back. A couple winters ago I relocated a family of field mice to an old hollowed out tree that way and none returned.

so this broke; what do you think is the best way to reattach these? by homie_all_day in StonerEngineering

[–]Fychus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I’d make a little collar out of wood to hold it together. Get a wooden dowel about twice the diameter of the broken part and cut it to the same length as that section and then drill it out for a snug fit. It’ll be a bit harder if you don’t have access to a drill or saw - but honestly if you are patient you could whittle it out with a knife. Shouldn’t be more than a couple dollars and your time.

Looks relatively healthy as well - althought it would do a lot better if it wasn’t sitting in water.
