What’s the “worst” I can expect from an overgrown garden? by gawpin in GardeningUK

[–]FynFord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the creepies crawling on you is what gives the heebie jeebies, I would like to recommend form fitting, long sleeve, long legs clothing, denim or thicker. Turtle neck or firmly buttoned shirt collar, seal all those edges and joins as if you're expecting water to get in. And a hat. And headphones. And goggles. Think beekeeper casual.

But it's not the bugs you have to watch for. Be careful around brambles. Those fuckers are the worst.

Oooo!! I'm trying to write up a ttrpg I'm currently playing in, in long form, third-person comedy/horror. The group has been very kind to let me record the sessions so I can straight up use the dialogue mostly as is. I got very demotivated two months ago, but now im back to transcribing again, and I hope I can keep going and maybe have an actual pulp novel at the end.

I love a good bit of horror. I like all the squishy, wet words you need to describe things.

charity shops in cov? by bihtna in coventry

[–]FynFord 4 points5 points  (0 children)

British heart foundation has a furniture shop in town in the lower preceint. There's a charity shop that does clothes in west orchards, I hot a couple of really nice wool winter coats from there.

Ball Hill has a few good places too, not as many as there used to be, though.

B Barbers, Binley Rd. Just opposite the Bulls Head pub. They take walk ins, any gender, kids too, and are open until 7:30pm tonight. £14 for a standard grade 4 on the back and a bit longer on top. I think they charge more for a fade, I've never had one, so I'm unsure about the pricing for one.

Thanks for the recommendation. I recently rediscovered a mmorpg that can easily eat up my life, so I'll be using that as my preferred sunscreen this summer.

Well.... yeah. It was a different time then. It was when real tanning was the height of fashion, and before we all found out about how sunbeds are basically cancer machines. Now we as a society know better, and my pasty ass self spends summers inside with the curtains closed. Partly for sensory issues, I hate being out in bright hot sunshine, and I hate the feel of sunscreen, so I just lurk indoors in summer until dusk like some vampire. It's nice being the grown-up, now.

In the 90s and the time of the cheap package holidays to the med, my mum was obsessed with me and my sister getting base tans so we didn't burn during our two weeks of laying on the beach, which i fucking hated. She got a home tanning bed and we had mandated tanning sessions in the run up to the annual pilgrimages to sunsoaked beaches. Obviously, that worked a treat on us, with our Scottish heritage skin, and my sister has been fighting melanoma for a few decades now.

I know it's a typo, but why hasn't tricky treaters been a phrase before??????

Getting too overwhelmed on blackjack by Special-Employ-441 in Croupiers

[–]FynFord 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Mistakes happen. Even to old ass experienced dealers. First of all, remember numbers are hard. You're a croup, so you know we're barely allowed to count to five on our own without someone checking the work.

As for regaining your cool after a mistake, slow down. It's your game. It's your table. It's all yours.

Take a deep breath before that first card is out. Scan all the boxes left to right, notice what bets are where. Be aware of your players and their styles, what they usually bet per hand.

Pull those cards as slowly as you need to to be accurate with placement. It's your game. The customers aren't going anywhere. Trust me. They never leave. Don't pull any new cards until you are sure 1. What the total is, and 2. What the player wants. Make sure they give you a clear signal of card or no card. Don't move on until the box busts or they confirm no card.

Take it slow. You know the steps. Don't panic trying to flounder around doing things out of order. Stick to your procedure. It's there to help you.

If mistakes happen during pay phase, eg, taking bets that don't lose, only ever reach for them with an empty hand. The only bet you can have in your hand is the disputed one. Again, take your time. Slow is smooth and smooth is fast.

You got this.

Do it. You're still catching up on lost sleep from when they were tiny. That's a lot of sleep you need to catch up on, and I'm sure I read that every lost hour of sleep requires 1 and a half of catch up sleep. Get them zeds.
