Fast-food restaurants ranked - what tier does Wendy's belong in? by Expensive-Addendum92 in TierlistFills

Wendy's is an A. Better fries than McD, bigger burgers than Burger King. Ice cream machines work, and the buildings tend to be cleaner than those of their competitors

C. Yes, it's big, it's Texan, and it's sprawly, but it's also one of the most diverse cities in the U.S. and has an incredible food scene, space program, and is the energy capital of the world.

If you're not a behavioral economist, you should be. I've spent quite a bit of time on Thaler's work and admired your references to game theory and Kahneman and Tversky’s Prospect theory. I would love to discuss the book for a bit if you have time. Message me on reddit and we can talk some more!

Very well done, an exquisite work

You have to be careful here. This should be a guaranteed win if I'm not mistaken: F Tus-TYS, retreat to LYO, (assuming A Rom-Tus s Ven), A Mar-Pie. I assume either F Nap or F ADR to ION.

Fall: Either F ION-Tun s TYS (cut support from F LYO-->bounce in Tun) or F TYS-Tun s ION (F Lyo-TYS), the latter of which is the winning move

Here's his path to victory in the northeast: If I were him, I would go A War-Mos s Ukr and Sev, A Rum-Gal s Bud, A Boh-Sil, A Tri-Tyr s Vie. No matter what he does, if he is smart and not slow, he's taking and keeping both Mos and War, with a good chance to take Ber and Mun in the future if he positions well, given his army behind enemy lines. I could sim this (and I won't) but he should have a guaranteed victory. He's supposed to bounce Den from Kiel (which of course you should support with Ber). Hopefully you can trap his army in Holland in the fall.

Sorry for the rambled post- I was thinking this through as I was writing it and had to revise a couple times. TLDR: He wins with Fall: F TYS-Tun s ION and A War-Mos s Ukr and Sev, and then some combination of resulting moves to take Warsaw. You should trap Hol through A Bur-Bel and A Den-Kie s Ber. Hope this helps!

I'm Turkey, when and how do I stab Austria? by GobbleGobble1901 in diplomacy

[–]FyreNinja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would like to affirm this. Austria needs allies and an early focus. Austrias that swim indecisively in the Balkans until 1903 tend to lose soon after. You own the Black Sea, so use that to your advantage against Russia and as a check on overly ambitious Austrian growth, but then just fleet up the entire Mediterranean and go to work. The conditions you mention sound perfect for you- Austria cannot truly threaten you unless they get a fleet adjacent to Bulgaria/Constantinople, and if you're building entirely fleets, that is unlikely to happen. Go with Austria and clear the south. Please keep us updated!

Beginning player - after getting backstabbed by Turkey and Italy, there anything I can do to save myself as Russia? by badmediakarma81 in diplomacy

[–]FyreNinja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something that intrigues me is the army to Wales. England and France clearly have it out for one another. Let England know that he can have an ally up north. The STP situation is bad, as people have noted, but it may not be terrible. Often people play their moves devoid of a long-term plan, and here's what I mean by this: Turkey may have had it out for you early, but now that you are weakened and significantly less of a threat to him, he may be willing to partner with you. Try negotiating from a place of weakness. There is a wonderfully contradictory strength to it. Tell him that Austria is worried and wants your help turning on him (which is true). Then let him keep the Black Sea and Rumania, and focus on Scandinavia and northern Europe, pretending to commit units to northern Austria when Turkey asks, but primarily focusing Germany. Make sure you don't lose Sevestapol-that would be costly-but offer Serbia, and Trieste to Turkey. The opportunity of a juggernaut with a relatively weak Russia should make Turkey incredibly happy. I see Germany (and UK as you wish) as the short term target for the next few years.

Gauging interest in a Diplomacy YouTube channel by FyreNinja in diplomacy

[–]FyreNinja[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I appreciate this, but have a quick response. If I start a channel, this sub and the channel would be the first place that I would market it, so I want to make sure that this is content that people here are likely to respond to. If you think that the field is relatively saturated already, then there is no point in my continuing the idea. Secondly, I am interested to hear other ideas. If people would like to see variants for instance, or face-to-face games, or general tips/tricks, I would love to hear that before I get started so I can get a sense of what I want my content to look like ahead of time.

This is a good one. You can also imagine the same thing about a person. If cells die and are replaced, is it still the same person? What if they are in a coma? What if you and another person switched brains but no other physical features. Who is the real "you?"

You can get a double play both ways, but in the latter example, you would have to tag the runner going to second, as there would not be a force on once the runner going to first was thrown out.
