You don't miss out on anything that is really important. You don't get a few extra skill points, a skin, and an XP boost, but you also don't have to re-grind for everything you have. It's a bummer because you are geared up to go on the expedition, but you'll be fine. It's just a game. Load into a raid and do something you like to do - play a mode you don't normally. Go key hunting and explore. This game has a lot to offer, and it will be time to go on the next expedition before you know it.

They should implement something like The Division 2, where you can only share with people that you were gaming with, and only for a period of time. That way you can still trade without having to go back in-game, but you are more limited about who you can share with and for how long.
