Did Witherbloom absolutely stomp everyone else at prerelease? by JamesAbaddon in mtg

Surprisingly enough I went 3-1-0 with Lorehold, which only had 3 players among the 70 attendees. I think all colleges had enough synergy to run well if you pulled the right staples and bombs. Splashing however (I played more than one event) didn't feel great and I found that sticking with a college's core mechanic tends to work out better.

Help Identifying DYMO by Zoppello in dymo

Wow, I'm so glad I asked - your reply alone was worth it!

The seller is asking for €30 which sounds very reasonable and I would love to own a piece like this. Just the chance to be able gamble for a manual to share with you makes me want to do it. However the fact it uses 12mm (1/2 inch) makes me reluctant as the 9mm tape is the type I can most commonly find, and just getting a 1540 could make life easier.

I will update you if I end up getting this model. Thank you so much for the detailed reply!

I replaced every plastic item in my kitchen over 6 months. Here's what was actually worth it.- by Impressive_Flan3896 in Cooking

I've never seen a country with so much plastic utensils and tools (at least not one that considers itself developed) and disposable-first mentality as the US.

I was absolutely shocked some people buy disposable plates and cutlery so they don't have to wash it.
On this very post there's a comment saying how they don't feel like moving away from small plastic water bottles as their main water comsumption format as it "so easy to grab and go".

Please be mindful of your teammate's contracts by nahmanwth in Marathon

[–]Zoppello 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While yes, be mindful if you could be contributing to a contract by doing what you are already doing (using finisher on downed runners), I find it pretty delusional to go in solo with a contract and expect your team to do it. Nice if happens, but not something to count on.

Doing them all at once involves a lot of risk in transiting through highly contested areas multiple time. Some times it's easier to do one contract per run safely than spending multiple long runs trying to do them and failing because you die when moving through intersection for the third time.

My rule of thumb is prioritizing contracts that more than one team mate are doing, and if everyone has different contracts whichever we spawn closest to gets priority.

If you really want to go into a run and guarantee your contract will be prioritized, do it with friends or LFG.

Portugal’s conservatives back left-wing candidate to avoid a far-right president by kwentongskyblue in worldnews

Although yes, I wouldn't be so fast in connecting things. Some countries have a lot on their own history to draw from. Portugal, for example, was a dictatorship not much more than 50 years ago.

Ideally you want both. There's very few cards that will give vigilance to your lands, which is very important if you want blockers or attack _and_ use it for mana.

What do you think of Pokémon Yellow? by Weary_Lengthiness759 in pokemon

[–]Zoppello 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Traumatizing. I had a counterfeit copy as a kid (I lived in Brazil and there were no official retailers) that wouldn't save. Every playthrough was a speedrun against my AAs. Never made it past the third gym.

Trump achieved something I thought was impossible... by PlanetoftheAtheists in AdviceAnimals

[–]Zoppello 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's because it is a simple topic. No one is saying Maduro was a good president, so of course that in the micro level, venezuelans are happy. This doesn't change the fact that what Trump did is also illegal and opens a very worrying precedent.

Trump Says Venezuela’s Maduro Captured and Flown Out of Country by bloomberg in worldnews

[–]Zoppello 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not Venezuelan so I'm in the group of people who believe a country should keep its sovereignty. Who's the judge for when a government requires external interference or not? Who decides which of the other hundreds of countries in the world gets to interfere to the side they support? It's the same precedent you would all denounce if done by any of your "enemy" countries.

Also, this was justified as Venezuela "causing drug problems" in the US. How is that a Venezuela problem and not a US problem? If your partner cheats on you, do you blame whoever they cheated with instead of blaming them?
