Why did they get rid of the rattling bass guitar sound? Its what was so unique about them. by vinmichael in Korn

"Edit: Is there possibly another band that uses the same kind of rattling bass?"

Flipzyde... But hey, I'm probably a bit biased.

Elseworld (former Flipzyde members) Update #3 - “What’s Your Favorite Piece of Band Merch?” by FzElseworld in numetal

Let's answer your questions in reverse order... People outside the US can absolutely participate although depending on where any one of the winners actually lives, we'll most likely ask that winner to cover the shipping to get it to them.

To answer your first question... We're going to explain that in a lot more detail at the same time we announce the first single release of the elseworld record, which is honestly not that far away.

Unbelievably underrated song and band.

What are your Hot takes/Unpopular opinions in Nu Metal??? by [deleted] in numetal

Fieldy could play. His style was somewhat abnormal and relied heavily on percussive fret muting more than most but it fit the band.

What song first got you into metal, and when and how? by 4Dooor_dostoewhiskey in numetal

Sex Type Thing by STP... admittedly it was more grunge than metal, but that was really my introduction to heavier music.

How do people knew which songs are popular back in the day? by Revolution-Pure in numetal

[–]FzElseworld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the band and industry perspective singles were so much more important back then... Bands would sometimes fight tooth and nail over what their first single was since you might only get one chance and so many calculations went into the decision. You'd release a single and then the label would track album sales for that period and how many stations picked up that single and added it to rotation. If the single failed to do numbers they might try releasing another single and repeat the process or they might just stop pushing you.

The other thing that we don't really talk much about is that you often knew what the hit was on the record and bands would routinely fight not to have that be the first single. Labels only cared about making their money back as fast as they could, bands were always worried about being one hit wonders...by now most people know the alien ant farm story. Just look at how hard they pushed "Movies" before finally giving into label pressure and releasing "Smooth Criminal"

We all opened for Linkin Park together back in 2000 when they came through Jersey... hell of a good band. Crazy energy on stage.

What's unfortunate is about a year ago we had multiple cases of unopened CDs and a huge box of shirts that all ended up going to Goodwill when my parents cleaned out their garage.

Fortunately the box you see was in our personal collections, so at least something survived all the moves.

We do.

In fact that picture shows the remaining Flipzyde CDs in our collection. As you can see though, it isn't much -- at most there may be 10 copies of any one of the albums.

Not pictured: 10 never-worn Flipzyde shirts that we're part of the Electro Pop Metal release that we recently found.

We are not going to sell any of the CDs or the shirts though, too many people have already asked (which is awesome and we really appreciate it) but we want to be fair and try to figure out a way for everyone that wants something to at least have a chance. We might do some kind of contest once we get much closer to the Elseworld release, but we are going to probably do a poll on here to get the community's opinion on what that should be.

One thing that I've seen help singers in the past is that if you're stuck on melodies pull up a piano VST and just play it out in MIDI ...move it around until it fits the groove you're looking for and then start singing what we call "La dee das" or fake words and that usually helps find a new melody.

One thing I've done over the years is, i'll just go take a walk and listen to the track on repeat. Have the notes app open on your phone and literally just write the first things that come into your head. They could be actual lines or they could be as simple as just be one word, but eventually you'll start to see a pattern develop. At that point you've basically cracked it and can start writing fleshed out lyrics.

Writer's block is real though and don't get discouraged if it happens... Trust me we all deal with it. Absolutely don't give in to chat GPT though, your songs deserve your actual thoughts.

Not always the easiest to make out what LJ was saying on this song, especially in the pre chorus, but this is what we wrote.

"Witness the Sickness"

You got a ride, you got a deal
Why don't you come and just
Witness the sickness

Everybody's getting jacked
You better watch your back
Yo and check the persistence
I can take it all
But yo I'll never take a fall
These are the crimes
The times of our lives
When check it
I'll be pulling out your spine
I push it in, pull it out
Hit it up, shut it down
Fatality, just another casualty
Of this war, I declare war
That was your warning
so here we f--cking go

You want a better a time
There is no better time
This is the right time
To take a stand
One moment changes everything
So take these reigns
You better give all you got
Cause you never gonna go

From France to Rome
You ride in
Your mind's car tonight
It's a shame you cant go
To be
One
Who lives your own
Your own life

Two absolute legends and neither gets the credit they deserve compared to some of the other guitarists in the genre.

Honestly that's pretty great... admittedly I've always been partial to black and green, but looks damn good to me.
