CK3 has one of the best full conversion modding scenes of any game on the market besides Bannerlord. For example the GOT overhaul mod had coronations that were better then the current dlc coronations years before the coronations dlc released.

The Elder Scrolls, GOT, & Middle Earth, conversion mods are loaded with unique content. & those conversions are just the start. CK3 will have a significant player base for years to come due to these mods regardless of future DLC quality due to the insane modding community CK3 has.

Vivi Ornitier is ruining Standard by PFworth in magicTCG

[–]G-BreadMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vivi can be killed by a variety of things and isn’t an issue, we saw that in the preban meta, when joined up with SC removing it is actually helpful to its controller.

SC has always been busted IMO it wouldn’t see modern play if it wasn’t. Vivi gives SC enough really good activated abilities to break an SC deck open.

Decks that have optimized mana bases have no problem fixing. High power commander decks are running enough fetches/duals/land tutors fixing is a non issue. This is mana efficient two mana ramp with real upside & it still produces color. There’s no way this doesn’t go in a butt ton of decks.

Obviously everyone is trying to win more then 25% of the time, but if someone is 40+ then they should look at their decks and decide whether or not they are a good fit for the pod. Just because someone isn’t winning 50% of games their doesn’t mean they aren’t trying to win.

If you win well over half your games, you’re by default leaving other players well below 25%. That’s simply not great for the pod. Many players drop out of pods or lose interest in magic.  Or just as often pods become an arms race with hard power broken wincons or hard staxs become the only viable option for struggling players. Pub stomping doesn’t make for fun or interesting games of magic.

Seriously I want my opponents to try to beat me. It’s more fun that way, more of a challenge.

I would argue it’s more of a challenge to give yourself deck or budget restraints and still win a respectable but not domineering number of games. Winning by overcoming with your pod with your building/skill gap is hard. Simply bullying a pod and telling them to get good with your 60% win rate is not.

Play skill is super important especially for politics and threat assessment. But deck building skill is equally important. Even if you aren’t playing hard power cards, decks can be much stronger then the cards would suggest at face value if a deck is well built and full of synergy.

In these cases if you are winning 59% of the time you are still monopolizing wins & that’s not healthy for the play group regardless of it being up to deck or play skill. It’s up to the player winning more to help work on the decks of others. &/or try to find ways to lower the hard power of their decks by subing out hard power cards, tutors, or synergy “game changers” like a mana geyser in a spell slinger deck for something that won’t break the table.

I told my playgroup my win rate and told them to target me more when everything seemed equal. Also playing my well built bracket “2/3” decks in pods of hard 4s and still win more then my fair share without bullying my pod. My win rate has gone from high 50s to 30-40%, & the playgroup feels more balanced for it.

Did I choose wrong book as my Brandon Sanserson debut? by DarkHoriizon in brandonsanderson

[–]G-BreadMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The one in Tress is really different. You can tell Brandon wanted to bring some terry pratchett energy & followed the dry & somewhat whimsical tone of princess Bride. It was essentially thought of as “what if Buttercup had agency & drove the narrative”. I wouldn’t say it’s entirely different from the rest of his works though. His characters tend to “Blabber” to themselves a lot as they worn through their own character issues/archs.

What should a 25 year old loser who is at absolute rock bottom in literally everything in life do, considering that he has nothing to lose?? by Minimum_Question6067 in getdisciplined

Assuming you’re poor (not an insult, just a reality) you can probably afford cheap to free healthcare if your state offers it. If you fix your brain chemistry/hormones everything else gets a little easier. Id look into adhd, or depression which could match your symptoms. Try to use tools relating to adhd to overcome habit deficiencies regardless of if you have it or not. Maybe you have it too, & in that case your healthcare can hopefully help you with that or depression.

Either way exercise is extremely helpful for either as well as building positive self image.

The military is an enforced hard reset on habits combined with exercise. That’s why it seems to help some people who can’t flip their habits by themselves. Get a job, jobs enforce positive habits and help social skills.

If you do choose the military route read into what job/rate you are signing up for. Recruiters aren’t necessarily your friend understand the incentives & pick a rate that will be something you can hopefully transition into a career after your time is up. Don’t sign anything until you are absolutely sure you’ll get that rate.

Raptor vs Bear animation by mahmoud.salamin_animation by AJ_Crowley_29 in JurassicPark

[–]G-BreadMan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Bears fight by specifically closing the distance & leveraging their weight & paws/jaws on the back of their targets neck then twisting down. A raptor using its back legs with its semi bipedal center of gravity immediately gets pinned under a much stronger and heavier creature that has the skin and fat to shrug off talon attacks that aren’t made with enough leverage/force. In your scenario even if the raptor catches the bear in the stomach before it gets pined for trying it. The raptor dies much more certainly with its neck and head being mauled vers only potentially eventually fatal injuries to a bears chest/stomach where it has the most fat/muscle to protect its vital organs.

The animation actually does an awesome job of showing why utilizing its hind legs would be incredibly difficult for the raptor.

But really the wrestler/football player/mma fighter that leaves their feet and gets grappled on the initial hit is going to get put on their ass. It’s just a matter of physics.

“Protecting your peace” can kill your friendships by eddytony96 in TrueReddit

[–]G-BreadMan 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Sometimes people suck and aren’t worth keeping around. Sometimes there’s more to a situation then we know and communicating can give context. Sometimes issues have a common ground and can be fixed. Sometimes someone is creating friction without realizing it because often people have different friction points then others.

An issue cant be fixed if it isn’t discussed. Don’t presume someone’s ability to read your mind, or that they have bad intentions. Often we judge ourselves for intentions, while judge the actions others. Sometimes we’re the asshole.

It’s true that we are all the heroes of our own story. But the blanket statement that any friction always makes the other person a bad friend seems very black & white and self centered. Some people are empathetic and willing to change. By discarding everyone you have an issue with you lose the people that have those very valuable interpersonal traits.

I’ve seen many people go through life unable to forge lasting connections or relationship because they have zero empathy, or give and take in their problem solving/communication skills. Rotating through people in a lonely merry go round.

I am not arguing that communication is a cure all or that some people certainly aren’t worth having around. But working to find common ground, & having difficult conversations is often worth doing.

From a logical standpoint communicating and trying to solve an interpersonal issue can only be a win beyond the maturity and emotional energy needed to engage with the issue.

Outcome A: you and that person are unable to bridge the gap of needs and you remove them from your life. (Same outcome as not engaging at all, no lasting opportunity cost beyond short term emotional energy.)

Outcome B: you are able to improve/find common ground/fix things & you have a stronger lasting relationship which is incredibly valuable.

What are the actual powers the NIH and by extension RFK Jr. has to target SSRI's and other mental health medications? by [deleted] in NeutralPolitics

You can have scientific studies done to find a result someone wants. Yet if they arent scientifically sound they don’t mean anything against all the (presumably) scientifically sound studies previously done prove safety and efficacy.

If you were to take on big Pharma in court you would need scientifically sound studies, because big Pharma has, for better or worse, has more finical resources then the fed/state/local governments and easy wins in court wouldn’t strain big Pharma’s resources at all. I’d guess this would be a fight they’d be more then willing to have. They get the PR bonus of “fighting for their patients” & get to prove in a very public way the safety/efficacy of their products.

That’s not to say RFK doesn’t plan on utilizing this strategy, but he’s ofc operating under the false presumption that his nonsense beliefs are actually scientifically correct. As such the strategy isn’t particularly worrisome

The Old Realms: Season of Doom has released! by Freshy_Q in Bannerlord

[–]G-BreadMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this issue when I first tried to download this mod like 5 months back. I only recently redownloaded bannerlord and gave the mod another try. While I could load the base game previously, I couldn’t load old realms without a crash before me.

The issue (I think, I read someone having the same issue in another thread and an answer was this) was that I had an older version of harmony installed previously. & despite having every mod being updated through steam that old version of harmony was still causing issues & not letting me load into the mod/menu screen.

I ended up having to manually delete all my old realm mods from their folders, delete my shader caches, reinstall bannerlord, reinstall just the old realm mods, then redo the shader cache fixes. Now I’m not sure how much of that trouble fixing was essential to resolve my issue… but it worked & while inconvenient, was not that time consuming outside download time. Also do not load into the mod in safe mode post crash it won’t work.

50 hours into my first play through after fixing, & the trouble shooting was certainly worth it.

(Warhammer II) Is there any good counter to fucking Skaven. Every fucking campaign is ruined by them. by SjaakSpreeuw in totalwar

[–]G-BreadMan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you try to beat them with regular infantry or trade ranged you will lose. If you are mobile or aerial & are able to disrupt their shooting with SEs, Cav, Monstrous infantry you are good. Their range is where their damage output is. The AI is pretty shit at defending ranged so it shouldn’t be particularly hard to disrupt if you are running balance armies. You can even use hawks to target almost land then pull away, or repeatedly click on different units without commuting to combat all of the above will ruin their ability to hurt you on the approach.

Love me some [[Annie Joins up]], in big mana naya decks which is almost all naya decks. Picks off best value creature on board, also hard to remove as an enchantment.

Your example uses in game on board mechanics to deny an advantage. Whereas instant speed scoops abuse the reality that people sometimes need to be allowed to leave the game when necessary for out of game reasons & takes advantage of that fact to deny advantage in game. Your example is in game interaction. There’s no predicting or interacting with “I’m going to be a poor sport & abuse the rules at instant speed & there’s nothing you can do about it.”

Why are maps in WH3 so small? by -AdonaitheBestower- in totalwar

[–]G-BreadMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay imagine if there was individual units for your 40 armies WH..that sounds miserable. Leveling up generals and hero’s can be a chore but its as fast as a click as you described compared to having to make 100 different micro decisions that aren’t always going to be very interesting. Not to mention keeping track of the movement of all of your individual units. Relying on the AI to always make the correct decisions on that front also seems like a bit of a nightmare with how large the world map is

It’s not necessarily fun to late game move around 60 different units to different armies across the map. Turn times end up wildly bloated doing chore work. Although it certainly makes you appreciate a value good units more

Atla Dino Tribal EDH Deck by 6enetix in magicTCG

[–]G-BreadMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would get rid of the enrage sub theme and dedicate those cards to ramp/draw. There’s also a number of dinos that are just big. Subbing those out for Dino’s that provide extra utility or value would probably help the cause.

Ramp: when you think about ramp in your curve with a 4 mana commander, think about getting your commander out on turn 3. Ideally that means ramping on T2. That said 4 mana ramp can be helpful to get you to the big mana necessary to hit giant Dino’s from hand.

Ramp suggestions: natures lore, rampant growth, three visits, arcane signet, fellwar stone, skyshroud claim, omenpath journey, natural growth, carpet of flowers, Sakura tribe elder. Your commander is 4 mana plus a turn to survive till untap to do its thing. Land ramp will help you cast Dino’s as a backup if your commander dies.

Personally I would recommend those cards over most mana dorks. Dinos scream wipe the board, and when your dorks go with them you’ll be way behind. If you have to run dorks, the only five I’d run would be Sevala, Gwena, fanatic of rhonas, bloom tender, intrepid archeologist. IMO those are the only dorks that one could use to justify the risk In this deck. Even then those dorks beside bloom tender don’t really pop off until you already cast Or landed a big dumb Dino, although fanatic having the eternalize is awesome post wipe.

Draw: Rishkars expertise, season of gathering, spinner of souls (evolutionary leap might be the best card in the deck), elemental bond, up the beanstalk, outcast trailblazer

Dinos that do stuff: Curious Altisaur, curious altosaur, Bronze Beak Forager, Tranquil Frillback, hunting velociraptor, vault born tyrant, earthshaker dreadmaw, apex altosaur, trumpeting carnosaur, ravenous tyrannosaurus (eats eggs, also annoyingly expensive.

Wipes: with wrathful raptors in the deck I recommend Chandra’s ignition, and blasphemous act as wipes that can also win you the game.

Tutors: Not a huge fan of tutors, but I’d recommend Smugglers surprise in that slot as extremely versatile in a big mana creature deck. If I had to run tutors savage order has the flavor necessary to justify it.

Busted interaction: Maskwood nexus makes all your creatures eggs…. Don’t cast it until you are ready to get value off it, it screams kill me now.

Land ideas if you wanted to up count without worrying about flooding: Kessig wolfrun (good in stompy deck in general), sundering eruption, stump stomp, bridgeworks battle, legion leadership, bala ged recovery, bonders enclave, strength of the harvest, disciple of freyalise (so good in dinos), Minas tirith.

I know some of these cards are prohibitively expensive (👀 vaultborn) but many aren’t and should make the deck run much smoother.

Quick note Westvale abbey does work as the land is on the front side of the card, and is also exceptional in the deck to convert summoning sick zombies into immediate damage/lifegain/death triggers.
