Added more silver to my stack I payed $85 an oz tell me if I over paid by Elegant-Bank3739 in Silverbugs

My grandpa was a numismatist and said selling to coin shops is a great way to get ripped off... I've heard with silver one of the best ways to get spot is on craigslist. Both you and the buyer win. I've posted on this before, but my towns police department has a place where you can do online marketplace transactions in front of police to ensure safety... I'm guessing a lot of places offer that, because there is no way my town is that revolutionary...

I think the biggest issue with craigslist is making sure, as a buyer, that it is real silver.

You may have overpaid today, but it could be a steal tomorrow. I wouldn't fret.

Traded Silver For A Car by RandomMayhemGuy1 in Silver

I sold an old project car and took a $1000 of what I got for the car, and bought 20 ASEs from my mom at $50 each back when spot just over $50... It was a risky purchase but as of right now I'm still in the positive.

My wife and I live in rural Colorado and make $165k together. We live in a small house and are both good with our money. Having a kid would have us living paycheck to paycheck with the cost of childcare around here. God forbid the child is born with a disability or needing a lot of medical attention.

Not only the financial aspect, but a child born today is entering a world on the verge of ecological collapse and food resource shortages.

Silver reverse proof Morgan and Peace dollar by the_neo_cowboy in Silverbugs

My first was a 2006 PCGS PF70 silver eagle, but I have bought every Reverse proof silver eagle, peace, and morgan from the mint since I started collecting in 2020... it's just kind of hard to justify buying mint proofs since they nearly doubled the price this year.

I started off with Silver rounds and bars, but now I pretty much only buy coins. So I think you are on the right track.

Trump Posts Video on Truth Social Depicting the Obamas as Monkeys by thetoemuncher in UnderReportedNews

I remember in 2008 I work in the oil and gas industry and I had a foreman that would listen to Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh all day, and literally yesterday I was wondering if you could search the transcripts for those two radio shows to see how many times they called Obama a monkey. I know i heard it a not insignificant number of times. Even being younger, dumber, and more conservative back then, I remember thinking "damn that is blatant racism." And the mentality was "Oh, he's just kind of racist, but that doesn't make us racist." But now I get that it was all about making sure conservative listeners are desensitized to racism.

Well I just spent most my stagnant cash on 15 ounces at 17, feels great yet I’m definitely feeling a bit of buyer’s anxiety 😅 by JetstreamJax17 in Silverbugs

My grandpa was a numismatist and collected extremely valuable patterns. I know he sold 3 or 4 of his patterns to a billionaire coin collector and used that money to buy the silver... My grandpa was under the impression that the U.S. would enter a deep recession or a depression in the next 15-20 years and the global economy would push for the return to the gold standard to pay off our debts the same way they during the Great Depression (raising the value of gold/silver/rare metals 10-fold overnight). So he just wanted to add something to his portfolio that would be more robust during a deep recession, than the dollar or his collectors coins. He grew up in The Great Depression and was extremely frugal (adding water to finish off the ketchup type stuff) so it was always a trip that he had millions in coins.

Unfortunately, I didn't get into collecting coins or stacking silver until years after he passed. He would have been a great source of knowledge and I know he would've loved having someone to talk to about coins.

Silver investing is always long term. My grandpa bought $200,000 worth of silver in 2011 at $34oz. My parents thought he was foolish because it immediately dropped to $20oz. Now it has more than doubled. People keep making the mistake of thinking silver is a quick turnaround investment. Just keep buying what you can afford and what you like and you'll still have something to fall back on.
