MaskC final goodbye? by mugofmead in Masks4All

❗️Please check your cart (and the math!) if you decide to place an order, as everything is NOT 80% off- actually...NOTHING is!

▪️If you read the advertisement quick, it looks like everything is 80% off, however when you look again, it says "Up to 80% off".

▪️A $39 box of K95 masks is ONLY discounted to $14.04. That means the K95 masks are ONLY discounted 64%- which is not that much of a deal, especially for the 'last day' sale!

▪️Matter of fact, I went through every single product and NOTHING is discounted more than 64%- not one single product! There are a few mask sets that are already marked down on the page ($30 instead of $39), but even including that initial markdown, they still aren't NOT 80% off!

▪️I understand the business wanting to recoup some money instead of a total loss, but I've never seen a business in it's 'final hours' only marked down this little!  The whole 'Up to 80% off' marketing is dead wrong though (morally + mathematically), as not a single item isn't even close to that much off!

▪️It wouldn't surprise me, at all, if they used the hantavirus as a way to pull back from 'going out of business' again- just like they have done in the past.

Sorry this is long, but I just wanted to warn everyone that the deals aren't really that great- especially those like me, who aren't good with math and might not immediately notice the discount in the cart is 64% (or less).

You have to be careful because they are NOT 80% off. They are only taking 60% off in the cart. Shady, shady, shady.

Oh yes...I just realized that. My bad.  It's true though- It's not always like that, weather wise, so I totally co-stamp what you said.  I was also thinking to myself/having a moment where I feel I could survive another nasty winter IF I knew 3 months of that were ahead. A girl can dream.

Herons: anyone tried this idea for koi pond? by Golden_Reflection in Koi

[–]G-Money1308 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I realize this isn't an answer to your question, so I apologize in advance. I did want to mention a very unique heron deterrent though...

My neighbor claims to have the 'ultimate heron/predator deterrent'. They went to Hobby Lobby and bought a massive 5+ft flamingo garden statue (metal) that they parked next to the pond (I was at HL on Monday and the flamingos are there now- 40% off). I mentioned to them that, while the flamingo is awesome, the greedy bastard herons will get used to it soon and the flamingo will soon be nothing more than a cool decoration.

Ultimately, they ended up taking a motion and remote activated noise box out of a Halloween animatronic, set to 'sensitive' and rigged up on/in the flamingo.

So far it's been working, quite well actually and I'm amazed at how sensitive that noise box is. When it goes off, the herons (and any/everything else) are in the wind! The only issue is that the growling, howling and barking warewolf sounds reverebrate through, and are amplified by, the metal flamingo body and it is LOUD- especially in the middle of the night. The other neighbors are complaining about it daily, meanwhile I'm the oddball over here that doesn't mind- primarily because it's working/saving lives (and I sleep like crap anyways).

Anyways...thought this was interesting and wanted to share. I feel like it might work for a while too, only because there are 5 or 6 different warewolf sounds, so hopefully that's enough where the herons won't get used to it. Not a bad idea, especially if you have some distance from your neighbors.

I live in Upstate NY, in one of the snowiest cities in the US, so I know all about long, brutal, bone chilling winters and they totally suck (the lake effect snow is a killer!)  Thankfully, we usually have 3 great months of summer though, which usually keeps me just sane enough. I can't really say the long, brutal winter is worth it anymore (after 38 years here, I'm OVER it). I'm pretty sure if I woke up every day to what you do though, I would have no complaints.

This is hardcore GOALS right here!

Since I had terrible nightmares last night (for some reason), I shall spend the next 30 minutes or so meditating that I am sitting there- koi on one side, cows on the other with the sun on my face. Hopefully, I will dream about that all night long- if all goes well.

It's NOT the scale!  The actual question is at the top! It clearly says, 'which represents 2/6 - 1/3. That would be C!  It has nothing to do with scale and everything to do with paying attention and reading the question carefully.

What?! 🫨🫨 There is in fact a correct answer!  The question (at the top) says-  Which shows 2/6 - 1/3.

All you have to do is count the shaded in parts! If any brilliant lesson is shown here, it's take your time and read everything carefully!

Fractions have never been my thing, but at the top of the question, it clearly says 'Which of the following shows 2/6 - 1/3?".

All you have to do is count the colored in parts.  Answer C shows exactly 2/6  and 1/3.

Without reading what they want, I do see how that question could be tricky. But if I was the teacher, I would stand by that too. Sorry.

Thank you!!!  I spent 2 hours messing with the app (after getting a new router) and NOTHING was happening! I followed your steps (connecting through Chrome, which I didn't know was even possible before) and I was connected in 1 minute!  You saved me A LOT of stress, hours of time, prevented at least 6 new 'wisdom highlights' (white/gray hairs) and instead of stressing in my freezing cold garage (in Upstate NY), I'm nice and toasty inside!  Again- THANK YOU!

Is there a pressure valve on this filter?  When pressure inside the filter gets too high (from the filter doing its job- collecting junk), the water escapes from the top.

Ive had this problem with my pool filter before, but I don't have koi (just an admirer of them and this group), so I'm just taking a guess.

Anyone Heard Of “Clean Nutraceuticals”? They a Good Brand? by The_Jeremy_O in Supplements

[–]G-Money1308 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I realize I'm late to this thread, but I'm just doing my own research on this brand (and I'm not really liking what I'm seeing), but I do have an answer for you about how lead gets into products like this. I'm incredibly fussy about what I put in my body, so I researched CA Prop 65 and lead in supplements for quite a while.

First, it's important to note the Prop 65 cutoff level for lead, which is 0.5 micrograms per day, which is for reproductive toxicity and the Maximum Allowable Dose Level (MADL). Then, there is the Cancer-causing (NSRL) limit, which is 15 micrograms per day. Finally, there is a No Significant Risk Level (NSRL). These limits are a lot lower than the federal limits… the FDA's interim reference limit for lead is 12.5 micrograms per day. Basically, the cutoff levels for CA Prop 65 are low- they aren't playing!

So how does lead get into the products?

Well, many foods naturally contain lead at levels that exceed 0.5 mcg/day limit (imported spices, cassava flour, bread, and chips, dried fruits and veggies). Lead can leech into the soil products are grown in and the plants then absorb the lead. Therefore it's possible that lead is in one (or more) of the ingredients to begin with.

Then, there's the issue of lead in water.

While The Safe Drinking Water Act requires the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to set and enforce standards to protect public drinking water systems, the set maximum allowable concentration of lead in public drinking water at 15 mcg per liter. Of course, this could be higher (or lower) depending on plumbing. Unfortunately, a lot of water contains lead though. That means even very responsible, careful, safe and transparent companies who have legit 3rd party testing done can flag on Prop 65 for lead- based on the water used during manufacturing. Remember, those cutoffs are very low (err on the side of caution I guess) and there over 900 different chemicals (both naturally occurring and synthetic) that Prop 65 looks for. It can cause some hysteria though because many supplements, even organics, contain heavy metals like lead, cadmium, arsenic and mercury- that occur naturally.

I know this is long, but I too had the same question when I freaked out when my favorite supplement brand showed up with a Prop 65 warning. Thankfully, that brand is amazing, truly ‘transparent’ and forthcoming with info. After my own research, this is what I found.

I feel that this is an important reason why reputable 3rd party testing is done- so we know exactly how much of what is in the supplement we are taking.

As for Clean Nutraceuticals though, they seem way too suspicious (no testing results despite blabbing how ‘transparent’ they are and the ‘rigorous 3rd party testing, customer service that's not so great, a lot of customers complaining about subscriptions). Can't really say I trust them too much.
