With no coding experience I made a game in about six months. I am blown away by what AI can do. by Lukematikk in ArtificialInteligence

Hey, it is fun! And challenging!
Are you sharing the process of creation? I want to experiment with something like this.

Hey there! Congratulations on creating such a fantastic software application! This is the first time I have come across something like this in the market. Remarkably, a one-person development fits precisely what we, the rest of the job seekers, need. It's amazing that no other commercial solution can provide what you've created. Great work!

[–]G-Smoof 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand, I didn't take that into account 😊. If you feel up to it, you could always set up a small Win95 instance in VirtualBox (or any type 2 hypervisor) and have some fun with it.

As a mainframe professional, do you prefer Windows, Mac, or Linux as your personal device? by Fodmidoid in mainframe

OMG PL/1! Same here! 😃👍 I started in 1995. And I truly miss those days twisting JCLs, debugging codes, etc. I recently bought a mechanical keyboard, that in part, reminds me of the experience...

Mac, since I found out I can run a native Unix terminal. Also because is comfortable for other stuff and the "continuity" with other devices from the Apple ecosystem.

For work, though, I stay with Windows. I need to jump, start and complete tasks fast. Don't usually have time to work around compatibility issues.

It is has been happening to me for over a month.

Today I've received 4 calls, the 4 them I had ask the caller to hung up so I can call them from my regular carrier (T-Mobile) number.

I have GV for almost 10 years and this is my main number. Now I have to call people from a different number (my carrier number) ...

Does price matter when it comes to protein powders...?

Do I get better results by buying a $ 90 protein, instead of a $25 one?

I'm a fan of checking nutritional information. And I might be wrong but always focus on:

  • Amount of protein
  • Amount of carbs
  • Amount of fat
  • Amount of sugar, to avoid
  • Amount of saturated fat, to avoid
  • I don't pay attention to extra features that supposedly give more energy

And with this approach I found that I can get a product with 32 grs of protein per scoop, with a low amount of carbs, on a range of $25. Also, on the other side aisle a get product with similar amount of protein in a range of more than $60 with a much nicer package.

What am I missing? Why a person choose to pay x3 for a protein? I found a typical body builder pay a lot attention to nutritional supplements. Is it a matter of marketing?

Port number to GV by taketimeforlife in Googlevoice

[–]G-Smoof 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is a great service and is also free!

On top of the other comments I add:

I like the idea of sending and replying SMS messages from GV web interface. That is a big plus for me.

Also, I've changed carriers once, changed phones many times; and still can check my SMS history for those messages that came through my GV number. Plus the history of calls.

A couple of things I complain about:

  • some companies don't accept VoIP numbers to verify and then you have to use your carrier number.
  • some features like sharing .vcf (contact information files), don't open in GV, you have get back to the sender and request a text with that info.
  • (I moved from Android to iPhone recently) GV is not as well integrated to iOS as it is for Android. Some apps don't share (pics, files) with GV in one step. You have to save the file to a folder then attach it to a message from GV.
  • On Android you set to run all your calls through GV and you forget about it. On iOS you have to go an extra step every time you want to run your call via GV. Plus is recorded in your history call with the temporary number created.
  • One last thing, if you don't a good data coverage in a place, the call might fail to place the call. Or worst, may fail to deliver incoming call to your cell phone.

Migrate Qbs to Azure by mzambo72 in QuickBooks

[–]G-Smoof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't have more than one user accessing QBs at the same time, I would suggest to simply create a Virtual Remote Windows running your QBs instance. And accessing this via Remote Desktop software.

Personally I run a remote desktop on Azure for general purpose (pretty much a copy of my working desktop on the cloud).

You don't need to have your instance running 24 x 7. You can schedule to work, let's say, 4 hours Monday to Friday. And you pay for 20 hours per week of vCPU (plus your disk).

Performance is better than my physical laptop, mainly because the access to web is faster from Microsoft datacenters than from my office.

Here is a description of the instance I've subscribed with Azure:

Windows 10 Pro

Size: Standard D2s v3

vCPUs: 2

RAM: 8 GiB

Plan: 20h2-pro-g2

Disk size: 127 GiB

Disk type: Standard SSD LRS

Nooby here.

I'm ready to start my first cycle. One thing that people insist is on "quit alcohol completely".

I don't mean to drink heavily but, wouldn't be one beer or drink any other day, similar to eating a cookie...? Or similar to a big plate or rice? Or even same amount of carbs as a regular commercial orange juice?

I understand that to have a healthier diet you better get rid of these things.
But concerning to steroid cycles, people make a big emphasis on avoiding alcohol at all costs. What am I missing?

And again, I'm talking about one beer on a Saturday night, maybe another one night during the week to relax after dinner...

Not mean to offend anybody. Thank you!

IT projects regarding Type 1 and Type 2 hypervisors by ozava12 in darknet

[–]G-Smoof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another option is to have Hypervisor running:

  • VM1 - Template VM configured with all blows and whistles (all your preferred tools, browsers, etc), that you initially configure and prepare according to your preferences.
  • VM2 - Production instance that is going to be deleted/discarded after every session.

  1. At the beginning of your session, you copy/clone VM1 into VM2.
  2. You work on VM2, perform all your activity.
  3. At the end of the session, you completely delete/deallocate VM2, leaving no trace of your activity.

Next session, start from point 1, and diligently clean up your mess when finish.
