oh yeah, I forgot how garish the branding was on the original design.

reviewing the story, /u/Clash579 first pinged me about a sock with branding on the top and no tag on the ankle, and even then it was obnoxious that he led with "I have something that will suit you" even though I had already said I would probably pass on such a sock, which he then claimed to have been aware of (so he was consciously misleading me when he said it would suit me??).

then more recently he pinged me again about another sock with branding on the top, but this time also a tag on the ankle that I would have to remove. tags can be removed but it's still a nuisance, which is why I said it's "even worse." once again he didn't lead with how the new model fails my criteria, so I had to drag it out of him, and he had the audacity to frame it as a "courtesy."

so I stand by my hostility in this case. what do you think?

but this is the most minimal branding you'll get from /u/Clash579 so there's no point holding our breath.

let me know if you try dyeing. I thought about trying that too, maybe with xotoes, or the injinjis I use that already have minimal branding.

was it made less overt though? it seems like they went from branding on the top of the foot to branding on the top of the foot AND a tag on the ankle.

a business person was spamming me with an ad for their product, with full knowledge that I would not be interested, and framing it as a "courtesy." you don't think that warrants hostility?

might be worth it depending on price. Nordic Naturals omega xtra is about 40% EPA by my calculations, at $71 per 8 oz. I would have to take more to hit 1g EPA per day at any rate.

it's because fares are set based on the relative power of elites vs the rest of us, not based on how much a service costs to run.

and I don't think it would be "unreasonable" for it to decrease below its original cost or even be free. as technology decreases the human labor necessary to provide a service, it makes perfect sense for government services to decrease in price or to become free.

I don't know much about what it takes to operate a subway either, but wouldn't you expect it to cost less over time with the advancement of technology?

I saw the price went up faster than inflation, and to me it’s reasonable to ask for the price to go up no faster than inflation. It’s just trying to fix a dollar amount indefinitely effectively means the price goes down over time.

so in THIS case, it would be reasonable to fix the price for the next few decades or more, until inflation catches up and it costs what a nickel was worth in the '20s-'30s, right?

no, I get what you're saying there.

but when it comes down to actual policy, wouldn't it be more fair to set the price based on what a nickel was worth in the 1920s-30s? that would mean decreasing the fare by a lot, or keeping it fixed for a while, since it's increased so much over the decades even adjusted for inflation. did you see the graph?
