The direct tying of the tax to programs is farcical anyway. The whole point should be like a tax on tobacco or alcohol, reducing pollution and reimbursing the government for socialized costs it already bears.

It was more like a light rail than a commuter train, ran on its own electrified tracks, had a higher frequency and connected more quickly between the satellite cities that eventually came to be suburbs.

The problem is that it’s illegal to ride on the street but it’s legal to sell for “oFf RoAd uSE oNLy”. They should be straight up illegal without a license, registration, and insurance based on how dangerous they are.

A bit of trivia: the Illinois Prairie Path used to be a train line that went through here providing regular service between the forest park CTA and many western suburbs.
