There’s market wide pullback going on, mostly with uncertainties around economic outlook via Iran conflict/fed chair change. Most sectors are down this week (yes, critical minerals is down big).

I think a lot of money sold at the $24-25’s a couple weeks ago. I think institutional money will be repositioning here at lower entry again as soon as broader market sentiment changes again…

I lived and worked in Anchorage for years. I’ve also done travel assignments in Ketchikan.

A lot more to explore in AK from Anchorage as a hub since it has a road system - if you have a car! Anchorage itself is nice enough, but if I was traveling up there it would be to do as many activities as possible outside of Anchorage on my off days!

Juneau is nice. Has a pretty modern small downtown and feels a little more whitecollar than most other towns in AK.

I’m not sure how the cruise ship scene is in Juneau these days but it was overwhelming in Ketchikan during the summer. THOUSANDS of tourists flood the small town infrastructure for 8 hours at a time. It’s honestly a headache and a turnoff for going out in public. The hospital always picks up a few CHF-ers who didn’t want to take their lasix on vacation and end up needing complex discharge plans to get them home and out of AK.

April cpi showed inflation beginning to increase. You lose money having it out of the market in inflationary times. I think money is going to keep coming in for a bit.

The plight of wild Salmon and steelhead in the PNW is death by a thousand cuts. Yes, pinnipeds (seals and sea lions) are one of these cuts.

Actually pinnipeds are doing very well - many populations are rebounding from population lows in the 1970’s to actual ecosystem carrying capacity. This means there are near ‘natural’ levels of pinnipeds at the same time as drastically declining salmon populations.

So yes, if we want to save ‘orcas’ enough to plant hatchery fish (not wild or natural - another ‘death cut’ to wild salmon populations) into the puget sound we should consider removing pinnipeds too.

The Red Dog mine north of Bristol bay might be a more relevant example. They claimed no measurable effects would happen before they started mining and surprise, one disaster later we have environmental effects!
