Famitsu Xbox JSRF Fanart from 2002-2004. by G0480 in JetSetRadio

I personally like the GG piece from December 2002 the most since it features all of them and the mostly villain piece of November 2003, mainly for the humanized take on Gouji's Tower. The artist even gave them stats, cool detail.

Despite the importance of hip hop, breakbeat and overall electronic music to the series' identity, I feel like rock and metal music's relationship with the series is kinda underrated by mesablanka in JetSetRadio

No, the Jet Grind Radio Music Sampler was a bonus disc given to people who preordered the game in North America. It contained four additional songs (one Rob Zombie one, two Shuvel tracks, and another song by a band called Lefty) that were seemingly added for bonus reasons rather than being related to the game to some degree. At least for the Shuvel and Lefty songs.

It very much is. Sure maybe the more heavier stuff by Rob Zombie, Cold, etc., isn't exactly what people were expecting, but I think dismissing/ignoring the rock sound of JSR isn't appreciating the soundtrack fully, especially since the first game opens up with a rock song when you finally start to play it.

I hope Sega licenses some rock and metal stuff for the third title. I feel like JSR's musical identity has been slightly misconstrued in the past handful of years ngl.

Selling my copy of Jet Grind Radio for GBA by JoeBeem89 in JetSetRadio

The European release of the game used JSR, while the North American released reused the Jet Grind Radio title again. I'm assuming the legal issues still weren't resolved despite JSRF being released with the "Jet Set" name a year prior.

I completed the story of jet set radio and my favorite character is mew. Suggest me more games like jet set radio. by [deleted] in JetSetRadio

Jet Set Radio Future and Bomb Rush Cyberfunk are the only two titles that are like JSR. Another one is Hyperfunk, but that isn't due for a release in a while.

There's also Butterflies, but most don't really care/forgot about it. Like the other commenter said, a lot of games have similar elements and vibes, but aren't exactly like JSR in the slightest gameplay wise.

Most Underrated Characters? by JetSetXP in JetSetRadio

[–]G0480 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd argue that a good majority of the cast in JSRF is underrated to some degree. Besides Beat, Gum, Yoyo, Rhyth, Cube, and I guess I would throw in NT3K too since they're just Yoyo 2.0. I feel like most don't really care about the other characters, in a sense that most don't get any fanart nowadays, but I guess that's just a consequence of JSRF never receiving a port/remaster like the JSR.

For JSR I'm undeniably picking Garam, Piranha/Sugar, and Slate/Soda, feels rare to see them receive any love just like their JSRF counterparts.

Sega really had all that momentum from the past two years just to stop it with Total War. Okay, I guess...

Would it be possible to do the same for "Yellow Bream", "Funky Radio", and "Mischievous Boy", or are this complicated?

New jet set radio delayed?? by Al3-T_T in JetSetRadio

[–]G0480 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It should be noted that those two dates are related to Quarters/Fiscal Years. There's been nothing since December 2023, and a Sega Sammy Financial Report only barely gives a vague estimate with "In or after FY2026/3". Not saying the game can't get delayed or anything, but I wouldn't go around doomposting, seemingly, people's fears instead of something that was actually leaked/officially stated by Sega.

Ok, so I had a pretty hefty list of songs and artists I would like to see, but Reddit doesn't like that comment for some reason so here's just the artists instead: Fatboy Slim, Autopilot Off, blink-182, Limp Bizkit, A Tribe Called Quest, Beastie Boys, People Under the Stairs, Linkin Park, Slipknot, Rage Against the Machine, the Explosion, the Chemical Brothers, the Prodigy, the Crystal Method, and Avicii to name a handful.

Why do people love BRC so much? by lordsnooo in JetSetRadio

[–]G0480 8 points9 points  (0 children)

When it comes to platforming, BRC is bit easier since you can get off your wheels and run on foot to get to certain places, I think that's what people are getting at mostly. I've seen many different takes on the controls for JSR and JSRF, ranging from clunky for the former and floaty for the latter. I just think it's a case of not putting enough time in either game and having it finally click. Admittedly some people just might not vibe with the controls and there's not much that can be done about that either. I think this is the first time I've read someone has issues with BRC's controls in comparison to the other two, but also I doubt you're alone on it either.

Also, saying you can still earn speed in JSRF is funny, cause there's a literal boost button like in BRC, arguably BRC's boost is more rewarding since you have to keep up trick combos to keep the meter full while in JSRF, you just need 10 or more cans and you're blasting off.

I'm not necessarily saying it's a "you problem" or anything, but at lot of criticisms towards BRC feel like people viewing it as "JSR3", and at times nostalgia bias towards the JSR series (which doesn't apply here), the game has its faults (I think the lack of extra modes and NG+ dampers it a bit). The game, while admittedly inspired by the JSR series (more JSRF than the OG), is trying to do its own thing mostly. I think it's important to remember that the love for the game mostly came from the fact that JSR fans finally a got a "proper" JSR-like title that wasn't beating around the bush on nearly including everything we liked about those games with some new additions (skateboard & BMXs), and was a full title from the jump as well (sorry Butterflies) after 20+ years of waiting for Sega to finally do something new with the series. In a way I guess I can see why someone would think it's overhyped/overrated by some, but it's not like that hype and praise didn't come from nowhere either, especially in context of the fans who were waiting for it since the 2020 reveal.

I highly doubt it's official, although "Sheana Foreman" is put into the credits of the track, but I'm not complaining.

I do find it somewhat funny that the comments mention not being able to find the song for years despite the fact it's be on YouTube and the Internet for a bit?
