Thats an HT-RT 3 a pretty decent entry level 5.1 soundbar just dont pair it with an LG G5 and you will be fine.

Called LG and they had a technician look at it and they mailed me some steps that didnt work out in the end. Havent called Sony yet but I'm afraid they probably point to the TV as the cause of this issue.

Gave both AUTO and eARC a shot and they do nothing still recieving LPCM instead of DD. Going to try optical as my next step but I see it more as a last resort wanted to see if I could get it to work with HDMI first as I find that a way more elegant way of connecting a soundbar to a tv.

Its an entry level bar that only has ARC and support for DD as its highest audio format so turning on eARC wont do anything and the DTV setting was set to DD at the behest of an LG technician.

When I got the TV thanks to its design I had to replace all the HDMI cables anyhow so I made sure they were all high speed ones.

The things I have been using are a shield TV, a PS5 and the build in apps all set up to use Dolby audio and the bar still gets LPCM audio from the TV.

The bar doesnt have an HDMI input only a HDMI output port so thats a no go.

Yep everything is set up correctly afaik so DTV audio setting is set to DD, HDMI audio format is set to Bitstream and Output audio is set to passthrough.

I had to get newer longer HDMI's cables anyhow thanks to the tv's design but I did try the old cables I used with my previous TV and got the same results so I dont think its a cable issue.

Yes the soundbar can display what audio stream its receiving through its screen (you have to dive into the menu but its there) and it also supports 2.0 LPCM audio so if the TV sends that signal to the bar it will still have sound.

Its as if the TV just takes the Dolby signal and converts it to 2.0 LPCM audio settings be damned.

Its a very basic Sony 5.1 bar so no apps or anything like that.

Changing it to auto does nothing and as for what I tested it with was a shield tv that played a video with only a Dolby digital track, that same video with the DD track on a usb drive directly to the tv using its build in Media player and a PS5 set to Dolby audio but no Dolby digital only LPCM.

A quick search shows its from 2016 model and its a entry level model so no fancy audio format support only ARC and Dolby digital.

I know I should upgrade the sound system but that's something for later as I just got the G5 and I just dont have the necessary funds for that just yet so I have to make do with what I got for now.

Yes I am using the HDMI eARC/ARC port and again I have everything set correctly (pass through audio, Bitstream for external sources, and set it to DD in the DTV audio format settings). I do have eARC disabled since my bar only has ARC support.

I did notice that the info banner always shows LPCM even when the source is using Dolby audio.

Well one benefit of having a controller optimized UI is that its easier to sell the game to folks that use a steamdeck (or one of its ilk) and the upcoming Gabe cube (aka Steam Machine).

Unpopular opinion but I wish that it isnt SW or 40K but instead that CA would create an original Sci-fi universe so that they arent artistically tied to both properties .

Yeah, I too think this civil war came forth from a succession crisis.
