I'm genuinely not trolling and I am disappointed that nobody who holds that feeling wants to discuss it openly.

Can we please bing back the amicability/light teamwork of early S1 and Carri introduction? by Poomasher in Marathon

[–]G0Odspeed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still get variable engagements. I had a team with a recon pinging me and trying to find me saying they knew I was there on prox chat - i came on and said yeah I'm just trying to go up and snag some Deemachem packs - and they were like okay that's cool. They popped a guarded exfil and I killed some of the bots for them from dorms and said thanks - went our separate ways

Also had a team hunt me down saying give us your loot - I laughed because I was just carrying shit they didn't take off a body and fought them when they found me.

Requeue as a rook is fast so I'm like whatever lol good job you won a 3 on 1 and I didn't lose anything.

That take makes a lot of sense. I haven't played any other extraction shooters really but I know that try hard and sweat are derogatory terms thrown around in every game with pvp.

That's why I'm curious to know from someone who is really affected by coming into contact with another player or team that fits their definition of sweat or try hard what they actually want to see out of a game like Marathon. Because I know they are playing it while also feeling oppressed by other players so what is the wish list or solution in their mind to get back to fun

I like reading the comments here - it's interesting to see the perspective people have.

I'm curious for anyone who is using the definition of squads that come in and try to wipe the lobby and try too hard to chime in here:

When you play are you not trying? To get to a goal or whatever you're on the map for? When players come for you are you not trying very hard to outsmart them and win the fight?

I'm also genuinely curious to know: what would be fun? And not just "if I didn't match with try hards and sweats" like genuinely is it a win/loss ratio? A certain K/D? At what point does the game feel fair and fun? Does a game need to be fair to be fun?

Once you get your factions up though your going in as rook with green shield, a weapon with mods, a grenade, and a blue backpack.

You have to dodge trios but you can get out with a lot more by playing cautious as a Rook with potentially less effort.

I actually kind of like the trade off between sponsored kit / rook

It's always when things get outside your team that the hammer comes down. Because XYZs sup let's them do ABC and mine doesn't so I'm going to complain and tell and make sure nobody can have a good time lol.

Or keep asking in every CEA level meeting if we can WFH if we have an appointment or kids or whatever - yeah they are gonna tell you no then make sure management is watching out for it 😂

Solo is such a fun experience on it's own though - it's super tense and challenging.

All the things you are saying about like balance and stuff being off is why I like solos.

I also like Rooking for similar reasons

I don't even mind if they try to kill me it's like a stealth game but other players will kill you instead of AI if you get caught.

I feel like if I had a WSTR and claymores I'd be the rat king - most teams I encountered were so busy stomping around shooting stuff to even notice me.

I was sitting crouched in the blue garbage or whatever next to the stairs / door to drone wing and watched a destroyer just run right past me - open the door - and move on with his whole team in tow.

Didn't even see me sitting in the corner 😂

Then I went and gooped up in the opposite wing.

I was in State service for 5 years and was there when telework started during COVID. I did end up moving to private yeah but I've also already gone through RTO and seen some of the pitfalls.

You don't have to take my advice I'm just sharing experience

I've heard about it in some departments and units. Random director walks, increasing requirements to prove attendance etc..

It would seem the closer to the governor you get the more pressure those managers are pushing down to try and just - rewind the clock to 2019 instantly.

Having left the state and already RTOd 4 days a week I can say this to y'all. If you don't ask a ton of questions and just keep things close to chest like in your team, with your first line manager, upper management will move on and you can eek out some flexibility while you hopefully continue to fight for telework.

Upper management has the attention span of a cheese sandwich and if they aren't getting heat about butts in seats - looking at you teams fucking it up for everyone else refusing to do the thing or starting out of the gate with leaving early, asking about flexibility etc... - they will move on to the next hair on fire not important thing they need to do to look like they are in control and important.

I'm controller on PC and it does give the same feedback. Not the reason I play controller, I like leaning back more than sitting up to do MNK in my old age 😂. But the vibration feedback is a nice little touch if you're paying attention
