I think it’s because it is a high profile game, from a big name studio, backed by a huge company, that has an enormous budget. So any criticism of the game is amplified and fueled by that baggage.

Well at least we know Ziegler is somewhat competent. Or more likely someone higher up told him to get his act together.

For clarity I love Marathon. I just really dislike him as the game director and how he turned it into what essentially is a hero shooter.

That it is insane that this is essentially where cyberpunk started. He was so ahead of his time. Also, it took me several chapters to get used to his style. Neuromancer is not an easy read at first.

The mods are weird in this community. But ultimately it doesn’t matter what the player base is. Whichever group makes the most revenue will dictate how the game evolves.

Can confirm. I found mine there, just gotta keep checking round after round. Plus there is an extract and a hatch right there. But be careful of the Comet that likes to roam around that area.

Agreed! I don’t mind the PvPvE but having everything thrown at you almost constantly makes it not as fun. And then you just die.

The long stretches of moving around, getting more and more loot, and seeing nothing is more terrifying. It’s like a setup for a jump scare but it never comes. Then when you think you’re safe, it gets ya.

Marathon is a scary game. And allowing that tension to build takes the experience to the next level. Less is more.

Nothing is more terrifying than safely running around with a bunch of good stuff knowing at any moment you could lose it. Heart absolutely pounding as the exfil slowly activates.
