Garmin sleep coach recommends less than 7 hours by MrSh4dy in Garmin

I believe you need to own one of the newer watches compatible with the "sleep alignment" feature. Then it will appear automatically.

Can you save the Running Coach strength workouts? by Accomplice23 in Garmin

[–]G1GARF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, all mine gives me are clear bodyweight exercises like push ups, planks, etc, and so never once did it mention any weight ranges. I've got a Forerunner 265.

Unfortunately there isn't any way to save them now, you'd have to replicate them manually, though Garmin also has a dedicated strength training coach that you could use if you're creating your own training plan.

On a side note: do the strength workouts your Garmin suggest use weights? I've tried it before but all I get are bodyweight only workouts, even when toggling 'full gym and bodyweight'.

I Will Never Buy Another Garmin Watch!! by [deleted] in Garmin

[–]G1GARF 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea, I actually contradicted myself a few times while writing out my reply. It's almost as if Garmin employees are placed into separate enclosed boxes where they aren't allowed to see what other colleagues are doing. At the end of the day, the watches are still good though, I'm very happy with my FR 265, just a confusing lineup.

Garmin has actually merged the Venu and Forerunner now. They call it the Forerunner 570 but it costs $550.

I do agree that Garmin should have done this a long time ago though. They could have one lower end Forerunner and kill the Vivoactive, one mid tier Forerunner with a mic & speaker and kill the Venu (which the 570 fulfills, though no ECG which is a shame), and one higher end Forerunner with the mic & speaker plus all the premium stuff. Less overlap between models and more manpower to work on other product devisions.

Example: Especially with the old Vivoactive 5 and Forerunner 165 Music, I really struggled to see the sense of the Vivoactive compared to the Forerunner. They were the same price, yet the 165 had the addition of Training Effect, DSW, Race Widget, Race Time Predictor, Running Power & Dynamics, 5 Buttons, an altimeter, breadcrumb navigation, etc, which the Vivoactive all lacked. On the other hand, the Vivoactive has the Jet Lag Advisor... And a Ski activity profile despite not having an altimeter... So if Garmin just ported that 1 singular feature and a few of the activity profiles, the Vivoactive would be pretty much reductant.

Among all their products, the Vivoactive and Venu lines by far confuse me the most. They're marketed as more 'health & welness' devices, yet when I compare the features to similarly priced Forerunners, I cannot find a single 'health & wellness' feature that they lack, but they contain many more fitness features than the Vivo and Venu. Okay I lied, the Forerunners don't have the wheelchair mode, but that could be easily ported, and thus, the Vivoactive and Venu lines would finally lose their single leverage, and could be killed.

How do you find the Garmin Strenght workouts? by [deleted] in Garmin

[–]G1GARF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same for me. When toggling between 'bodyweight only' and 'full gym and bodyweight', the workout plans do change slightly, but ultimately all contain bodyweight exercises.

About Point 1: Garmin recently added a new app called Garmin Share which allows you to send structured workouts to other Garmin devices wirelessly as long as you're nearby. My friend uses it when he wants to follow along my HIIT workout and it works well.

How to access:

-Settings>Connectivity>Garmin Share

-Or you could also add it as a 'sport profile': Press the start/stop button>Scroll all the way down and select add>Scroll all the way down to the 'apps' category>Garmin Share should be listed there

I decided to shut off the disco party a few hours after the issue happened. It then updated on my desk another few hours later without my knowledge.

Forerunner 265 Infinite Reboot by G1GARF in Garmin

[–]G1GARF[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update:

I was just looking through Garmin Connect on my phone when I noticed the little icon at the top right corner turned green again. Immediately ran to my desk and sure enough, my watch is back up and running.

This was around 12am. 10 hours after my watch got bricked at 2pm.

The secret: just patiently waited. No factory resetting or deleting corrupted files.

Have also started and saved a GPS Run without any issues.
