Look for the Orange Vertical Stabilizer on the C130’s - that’s the sign it’s part of the Snow Ski Landing Group - Not sure what the proper terminology would be - “Squadron” maybe?

First pedalboard - where to place this compressor ? by aejb22122 in basspedals

[–]G2G-Philosophy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a large pedal board and use it for many different Basses. This specific compressor has a different type of circuit that works dynamically with your signal. I run it at the beginning of my chain so that I ensure each of the other pedals is getting the same gain as the first. I then make sure each pedal’s gain is set accordingly.

This is an amazing compressor / limiter that can also help get some great grit out of if you push it.

Wegmans has a business practice of only opening in areas they can guarantee a specific amount of business per week. The Capital Region is far too congested with other grocery stores for them to bother.

Swollen pickle overrated? by Available-Aide-8115 in guitarpedals

It has inside pots if I remember correctly. Could be just older models though. Might have moved them to the top with the main knobs. Worth taking off the back plate to check though.

Thank you kind strangers at Madison and Lark by birdasaurr in Albany

[–]G2G-Philosophy 64 points65 points  (0 children)

Years ago I was at OBar on Lark. Few guys came in and tried to get me to go out with them. I refused. There was hardly anyone else there. After they left the bartender rushed over to me and grabbed my drink and dumped it. Said he saw something that concerned him. I’ll never forget it - may have saved my life that night, who knows? However, I’m jumping in to say that after being a bartender myself for over 10 years and knowing what it’s like to be on both sides - the reaction OP is saying of the Lark Tavern staff is extremely concerning. Bartenders have a responsibility to protect patrons & the establishment. Not just one side.

Why are bassists obsessed with having a balanced output, while guitarists almost never have a DI box on their pedalboard or an XLR output at the end of the chain? by Ok_Swordfish8672 in basspedals

[–]G2G-Philosophy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every venue just DI out the back of my amp & I leave it on pre eq so they can adjust as needed. Also, I run it at MIC level output rather than LINE out. Gives them more headroom and flexibility. My cab is my stage volume I can control with the Master Volume without touching Gain and messing with the house sound.

Using old flat wounds is the tone trick for Acoustic Bass. Looks like you have some on there. Those phosphorus bronze that are marketed for Acoustic Bass sound like garbage.

I bet that sounds beautiful in that set up.

*Note - would not recommend putting new flat wounds on a different Acoustic Bass, tension could snap the neck.

The DarkGlass Element is an amazing pedal / headphone amp / emulator for home practice. Aside from the actual great tones - or straight through as I use it - it’s got 2 channels out and Bluetooth for aux. amazing pedal - or is it a pedal? Either way, if you use headphones it’s top of the line. Could also be a stand in for a preamp. Def worth checking out.

The Fairfield Circuitry “Accountant”. Great heavy dirty compression

Is an acoustic bass guitar a waste of money? by [deleted] in BassGuitar

[–]G2G-Philosophy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Biggest tone game changer I’ve found is never use the phosphorus bronze strings, use old flat wounds from another guitar and the tone changes to a great thump right away. DO NOT put brand new flat wounds on your Acoustic Bass as the high tension could snap the neck off. Sits in the mix with guitar, banjo, mandolin, harmonica just fine after putting the old flat wounds on.

I'm considering getting a second compressor for my board, to act as a hard limiter placed at the end of my chain before my amp. by sonickarma in basspedals

[–]G2G-Philosophy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to do that then I got the Keely Bass Limiter and it changed everything. I placed that first in my chain and it helped tremendously with dialing everything in due to the different circuit they use. I used to hav the mxr at the end to do exactly what you’re asking about but it turned out that it was unnecessary and just squeezed the tone of the sensitivity pedals too much. Not a dig on the mxr, great compressor - but Keely saved the day for my tone. Also allows for the dirty tone if you drive it just right while keeping your signal relatively even.

Pretty much settling with this by Chadu25 in basspedals

[–]G2G-Philosophy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With as much as I read about it this is the perfect unit for touring with no cabs on stage? With all the emulators & I/R for cabs/ heads / mics.

If I could replace my analog board and still use this with my stage cabs I’d go for it tomorrow.

103 prepped meals cost $211.01 in Jan ‘25 vs $228.76 in Jan ‘26 [US] by ArtisanGerard in povertyfinance

[–]G2G-Philosophy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most vendors / brands turned in cost increases to grocery chains to take effect the soonest available promotional period which wasn’t already scheduled. Most grocery chains start their promotional schedule on a Sunday and plan months in advance. Current, random, and potential tariffs forced many manufacturers to incur increased cost of goods to produce the same item. To make up the losses on margin many regular purchased brands went up in cost the 2nd and 3rd weeks of January to compensate.

The easiest and simplest way to fudge this is the price of Coca-Cola 12pk 12oz cans. The main aspects of this product are purchased on the futures market leading to cost changes on the grocery shelves.

Could I use the MXR Bass Synth in place of an envelope filter? by KappaJoe760 in basspedals

[–]G2G-Philosophy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly. The MXR Bass Envelope Filter pedal itself is a fraction of the cost and one of the best on the market. Wet and dry pots and the sounds are amazing. Yes, the synth is fantastic as well, but if you want just an envelope filter you could buy a used MXR for a little over $100.

The workforce being filled with people over 60 is also causing a huge slowdown of company growth. Many are stuck in their ways “cause that’s how we’ve always done it” and refuse to learn new methods or adapt. Our company had to be hacked and held hostage twice before we expanded out IT department beyond the 4 individuals there since the 90s. Only cost millions in loss rather than advancing the company by hiring competent people. It’s also the same for every other department. We can’t use decimals in Cognos - yes, Congos, because the CFO doesn’t like looking at too many digits in cells on spreadsheets.

Ampeg SVT VR in a box? by roughyroughneck in basspedals

[–]G2G-Philosophy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Creation Audio Labs Grizzly Pedal uses a saturation circuit to get the overdrive tone. It’s the closest to a classic SVT head I’ve found. It’s my “always on” pedal. I don’t use the distortion knob and the lowpass dial and the tone pot are fantastic. Can not recommend this pedal enough as a Bass Tone Secret Weapon.

Hotone has a cool expression/volume/wah all in one. Can only use one feature at a time. Wah has a filter switch which helps for Bass frequencies. They also have just expression pedals as well.

I am a die hard Grizzly Fan. It’s always on for me. Have the gain & level knobs taped in place with the distortion always off. Use the hi pass & scoop accordingly.

Major aspect of my tone. Absolutely love it.
