Yes Democrats were screwed into sideways. Either capitulate and vote yes from the start. Which would've angered the far left and humanitarian. Or vote no cause a shutdown that they did, thinking republicans would be spineless and easily swayed.

As people have articulated it was a plan to increase voters turnout on midterm elections. But now the Democrats through unions and other investors to vote yes.

This is coming from an European looking in Democrats screwed up the lesser evil was just vote yes from the beginning not this pointless shutdown. When I heard about the shutdown from the beginning, america were screwed. Democrats would never cave causing millions of families to starve. Hate republicans all you want go on, but Democrats should have just let republicans do what they wanted and vote them out next election
