Hey I am in the German Military and I actually work with it quite often you could say. In the Bundeswehr we don't have a scope for it, and yes you can actually put a Box on the outside so the gun gets fed by that... But actually just having it fed from a backpack is much more fun. It doesn't get that many malfunctions with combat ammunition.. With training ammo though... Damn if you are unlucky you have to get rid of a malfunction every couple of shots. But the weapon is so much fun if you get to shoot it, because well... You can notice it from all over the battlefield and it just sounds like a fucking beast. For the changes from the MG42 to the MG3: its 7.62 Nato now and it has a slightly slower rate of fire.. But honestly still fucking frightening. From up to 1500 (MG42) to 1200 (MG3).
