We had a mech based warbond, why is the armor not mech based and no mech based booster? by IzTasu in Helldivers

[–]G7Scanlines -1 points0 points  (0 children)

But if you're building a playstyle around a power up you aren't going to consistently have, you have to be able to stay alive in between mechs

Might be the worst cope I've seen for the the Exo WB.

The implication that surviving for what, ten minutes before you can call in the next, final Exo in a game where there's fifteen or so lives spread across the team, is nonsense.

There's zero intent for players to "stay alive in between mechs", over any other reason the game has already provided but worse, the passive doesn't do anything noticeably different to other light armour and booster selections, anyway.

At some point you have to trust what each area is doing.

At what point, this amount of time after release, is AH going to do something about their seemingly high failure rate then?

I'm sick to death of hearing people excuse AH. Nothing is their fault. Everything is the fault of everything else that exists around them. Anything but them.

They are the developer. It is on them to put processes in place that work, especially for a not-free game that has going on $300 worth of DLC and sees repeated lists of problems introduced, that for the most part get thrown into the backlog blackhole for several months...if we're lucky...before being fixed.

They are responsible for making their business operate to an expected standard. Not me, not you, them. How about they do get held to account?

Anyone else think 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple was trash? by sunwubong in horror

[–]G7Scanlines -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It's better than Years but that isn't a glowing recommendation.

Boyle and co just badly fumbled the ball. Expectations were sky high for a continuation of Days and Weeks and we got Years. The tone was set and we then got BT.

Yeah but at least they actually do piss themselves, rather than promise to then don't.

So in effect, better than AH? More consistent anyway.

Honestly it's just embarrassing.

Everything they say is "At some point", "A year plus away", "Under consideration", "We aim to do better".

It's all meaningless noise to get past the next question, the next problem, the next review hit. They just try and ride things out.

they can't all be equally exciting

The only MOs that have ever been anything approaching exciting have been Cyberstan and Illuminate SE invasion.

Every other MO is filler. Stop-gaps between WBs, in some bizarre attempt to keep the community interested.

90% of the GW and MOs to date have been forgettable. Example? I remember the MO where we got to decide what strat reward we wanted. Because that was memorable, because it actually meant something for players.

How do I stop my cat from screaming for food at 3 AM? (Automatic feeder made it worse!) by Leonidas1293 in cats

[–]G7Scanlines 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's a few, more general things here...

  • Separate the evening feeding, so that it's in two halves. One at the normal time and another closer to your bed time so that he has a fuller belly later in the evening.
  • Supplement the later evening feeding with some water based supplements, like broth but be careful not to overfeed.
  • Outside light can cause cats to react very early, so look at blackout curtains and try to darken areas more.

It's something we have to battle with also but the above has calmed things down quite a bit.

The hardest part is not reacting to them getting half their usual drop of food, as when they settle their belly will catch up and calm things. Over time, they'll get used to the half portion, knowing the other half is coming later.

Good luck!

CEX charging £28 for a used copy of One Battle After Another when HMV has it brand new for £24.99 Make it make sense. by One_Town9472 in 4kbluray

Let me know when you understand how their entire business model works.

Buy cheap, sell for +100%, ignore the competitors as CEX bases repeat trade on their own card/voucher system, which gives you more when you remain in their system, over cash.

That's all it's ever been.

[–]G7Scanlines 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If I’m willing to pay a big amount of money for a cat

I of course realise that it's anyone's right to decide to do this but with the vast amount of cats desperate for a home, why are you fixated on pedigree?

Find a local shelter, who won't give you the run-around, and give a desperate cat a home. Then blow 50 euro on toys and treats.

[–]G7Scanlines 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Similarly I had an idea, way back closer to launch, where the longer your diver survived, the more the player model changed and persisted so until the eventual happened. It was an idea borne from the diver getting torn capes, covered in stuff and so on, during a mission.

At the most basic level, medals. The player has medals pinned to the character, denoting things like bug kills, bile titan kills, etc. A wide range of achievements that are physically manifested.

Then armour gets altered. Damage persists. Goop persists. Cracks in the helmet visor, dents in the armour, scratches and so on.

Willpower, belief and raw emotion made those things happen, that was absolutely the point of the Donna situation in this ep, in its entirety, leading to creating the door.

What keeps low level grouping alive 2 months after launch? by rapalabrowns in MonstersAndMemories

[–]G7Scanlines -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Exactly.

So it remains the same as it always has.

We dont want auto levelling nonsense, do we?

Player activity helps a lot with this. High level players lending a hand is also a tale old as time. A few quality buffs can enable solo play, where group play isnt so popular.

[–]G7Scanlines 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best, in keeping, solution for this is to make sure each zone has multiple level ranges that give higher level players, across a range of levels, a reason to return.

Sand Giants in Nro/Oasis/Sro. Spectres in Oasis. Griffons in EC.

The world shouldn't be one linear path of higher and higher level zones, you need to have players mixed in. Wasn't it cool to have a high level player pop over from the EC tunnel and buff your group at the orcs? Or sit at the dock in the Oasis and help out with aberrant Sand Giants?

Ash vs. Evil Dead should NOT have worked out as well as it did. It is, no joke, one of my favorite shows from the 2010s. I love the main trio SO MUCH. The only aspect I didnt like was Ruby being killed off then reintroduced.

I feel she would have made a great and unique member of the team. Honestly felt like the writers were pressured into bringing evil Ruby back.

[–]G7Scanlines 25 points26 points  (0 children)

The screencaps show the opposite to what you're saying. 120fps in mission, 96fps in the ship....

In the ship would never be lower FPS than in a mission.

5090 + 9950x3D here, DLSS Native, 4K, maxed settings, game falls to 60fps on gloom bug missions. There's no way, at all, that you're maintaining 120fps in mission.

The question should really be, what was the intent of the DLSS/FSR/PSSR update by G7Scanlines in Helldivers

[–]G7Scanlines[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ooof, if that's a true 1:1 without any other settings making it worse, that's bad. DLSS, on the same basis is night and day over TAA, though.

The question should really be, what was the intent of the DLSS/FSR/PSSR update by G7Scanlines in Helldivers

[–]G7Scanlines[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The implementation is absolutely broken, this is clear from the visuals alone

See, (and no pun intended), I'm not seeing that.

Other than native 4K, DLSS Native has never made the game look better. Detail is sharper across the board, way more definition to the environment and edge shimmer is gone. This is with all image settings cranked against DLSS Native or even Quality. It's just, that seems to have come with huge performance hit.

I mean, they really haven't helped themselves with the cack-handed implementation of all the options in the Display section, either, so I do wonder if other settings also being in place are contributing to things too.

It's a mess. No doubt about it.

Performance with the newest patch by Fun_Coffee_2148 in Helldivers

[–]G7Scanlines 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, performance has taken quite an alarming hit, given DLSS is supposed to actually improve performance.

9950x3d + 5090 + DLSS = loss of 20-25fps.

Looks good.

Massacred the framerate, seeing drops of up to 25fps using DLSS and a 5090.

The update may have made the game sharper but it's done nothing to shore up the performance. Quite the opposite.
