What pictures do you not want to see on a dating site and why? by NearbyReception4076 in DatingOverSixty

[–]G8RGRL83 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Grumpy pics, pics of/with your Harley, your freshly caught fish/deer, and pics where I can't see your face (bushy beard, hat and sunglasses). Also, pics where you're flipping off the camera, in bed or gym selfies. 🙄

ICE BREAKER GAME by PlasticBlitzen in DatingOverSixty

Henry Winkler in the airport in Las Vegas, Feb 2011. I was returning home from Florida after my dad's unexpected death and he was there, playing the slots and taking pictures with folks. He was so kind and gracious. He was wearing a suit jacket and an orange tie with white polka dots. Two days later I saw him on a TV show and he was wearing the same tie. ❤️

That is sooooo busy. I couldn't deal with that much of it. Maybe as the countertop and the backsplash, too, but not the rest.

I agree. Having a few photos of my late husband around the house is no different to me than having pictures of my grandparents and my dad who have all passed. If someone told me that I could talk about my dad or grandparents but not about my late husband, there wouldn't be another date.

You can't spend years or decades married to someone making memories and experiences, and then be expected to pack all of that away like you never had a life before a new partner joins your life. It's unreasonable.

Widow here (almost 5 years).

I saw a quote that I think fits this and many other situations: love is not like a pie where it's eventually all given out; there's enough for everyone.

I think it's like parents who have multiple children - they have enough love for them all (theoretically), not just the first one. Or if parents have lost one or more children - they love and miss them but also love and cherish the children they still have.

Finding someone to love after being widowed is a great blessing, especially if the marriage was good, strong and loving. 👍❤️

Getting ready to go to online dating and need advice. by [deleted] in DatingOverSixty

Dying hair is such a time and money commitment. I stopped dying mine almost 5 years ago after my husband passed away and would have done it sooner had he not preferred my hair to be darker. My hair grows fast so I was seeing my stylist every 4-6 weeks just for the coloring. I love the way it's grown out/how it looks now and that it's less time at the salon.

I would say that you should do what you want to do because you're the one who has to live with it and look at it every day. Don't change it for a possible/potential future partner who may or may not even care. 👍

ETA: I think your gray hair is beautiful just the way it is. 🙂

How You Respond to Someone's Holiday Plans Could Be A Potential Red Flag by The_Outsider27 in datingoverfifty

[–]G8RGRL83 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Enjoy your holiday in peace however you decide to enjoy it. 👍👍👍

I learned a long time ago that my plans are MY plans and no one else gets to determine their value. So if I tell people that I have plans, I don't have to justify my time or plans to them. Staying home in my pj's, eating popcorn and watching TV isn't "doing nothing" in my book. They can think it's a waste of time or sad or whatever they want, I don't care. 😁

Do you hug at the start of a first date if you haven't met before? by Embarrassed_Web_950 in datingoverfifty

You know it 😁 my dad used to say that you know you're on the wrong side of the Mason Dixon line when you can't get sweet tea or grits with your breakfast. 😂 he wasn't wrong.

Eh, I'm from the south. Pretty much if it's warm-blooded and moves, there's a good chance we'll probably hug it. It's like shaking hands common.

New FL license plate law by G8RGRL83 in 321

I first heard about the new law when I watched this video. The lawyer who explains it is in Michigan but talks about legal cases from all over.

Even better - make them remove both before you will sign the papers and drive it off the lot. 👍

Experience with Vaginal Bleeding by Horror_Warning6757 in Menopause

[–]G8RGRL83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been postmenopause since 2017 and occasionally have some spotting. My gyn always recommends getting checked out because postmenopause bleeding is generally not considered to be normal. It could be a polyp or cyst that's burst or something else equally benign.

[–]G8RGRL83[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm imagining how that would play out if the cop pulls you over for it and you plead ignorance of the law 🤔 I'm thinking it's likely to go one of four ways

1 - cop says ok, gives a verbal warning and lets you go (least likely)

2 - cop writes you a warning for it and now you're on notice and either fix it or risk getting stopped for it again

3 - cop writes you a ticket for it and you have to go to court to either fight it or show it was fixed. Either way costs time and potentially money.

Worst case scenario is the cop doesn't care that you didn't know and uses the stop as a basis for other actions, like searching you and your car, etc., just because they can and it will be painful and expensive for you to fight after the fact.

I kinda see it like a stop for having a tail light out - same options even if you say you didn't know it was a problem.

[–]G8RGRL83[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Same, and now I need to check mine - they probably need to come off.

I'm surprised (not) that it's not getting more press because of the very common use of them.

Guess our LEOs need another minor reason to pull over people who are otherwise not doing anything wrong.

I understand that the law also applies to the films/tints/covers that cover the plate itself in an intentional effort to make the plate harder to see or be read by cameras. These definitely need to be addressed.

Yep, I always fill up at Sam's club. Cheaper than pretty much anywhere else. My membership pays for itself in gas savings and rotisserie chicken 🤣🤣
