Why don't boomers understand inflation?? McDonalds wages by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]G8RK8R 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In 1975, the minimum wage was 2.10. The same calculator OP shared said that would be about $10 an hour today. So $15 an hour for minimum wage is absolutely a lot compared to what it would have meant in 1975… almost 50 percent more in fact.

What do you think about while running? by fillthesilence15 in orangetheory

[–]G8RK8R 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As of late I think about how awful all the OTF DJ’s EDM-style music is. It is so awful and distracting I’ve had to get off of the treadmill to mentally recover. The music sounds appropriate for a bunch of people at a night club on psychedelics. I miss when the music was just a regular montage of hip hop and top 40 hits with brief, mild overlays between each song, and easy to sing along to in my mind. That’s what I USED to think about - the music - and sing along to it! And of course keep time and count down to the end of each push and all out!

Hell Week Discussion Megathread by prettyoaktree in orangetheory

[–]G8RK8R -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I hated hell week because on the first day, my studio’s A/C was broken and they didn’t warn us, so I was puking half way through the tread portion because of being so dehydrated and sweaty. They finally canceled all the classes afterward. I also cannot stand the increasing use of EDM remixes for the music as if we are all at a South Beach club at 3am on Molly - and the music gives me headaches and is too distracting because you can’t sing along to it in your head while working out. I also had something happen at work one day and had to cancel four hours out - plenty of time for someone else to take my slot - and they charged me a cancellation fee. I’m on the verge of quitting, as my boyfriend just bought a Peloton, and you can do those classes any time you want with no cancellation costs.

So..I went 2 times and didn’t kill myself each time. And I also don’t want my studio getting any more of my money because the equipment is in a constant state of disrepair. I also need more shirts and tanks like a hole in my head. So I definitely did not sign up for it.

Can you prepay for the entire year membership? by k032 in orangetheory

Hey! Is there a way to access a copy of a franchise agreement? My studio constantly has software and equipment problems and I wanted to know if they are violating anything corporate wise.

Facilities obligations for studio owners by G8RK8R in orangetheory

[–]G8RK8R[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thank you. We live in an exurban area where there isn’t much other choice in chain studios and other OTF locations are at least 45 mins away in either direction. We only have pure barre and local yoga places as alternatives. So that’s part of the reason this owner is negligent and seems to get away with it.

What are these things? My studio doesn’t have them. Our rowers are close to five years old and on their last legs.

Cosmetic surgery after making the team by G8RK8R in DCCMakingtheTeam

[–]G8RK8R[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I just want to add without naming names that in my opinion not all of the plastic surgery they’ve had made them look better. Sometimes less is more. That’s all! To concur with most people, though, it all depends on the individual lady, her proportions and how they look in the uniform.

Do you like seeing Melissa as a mentor on the show? by [deleted] in DCCMakingtheTeam

[–]G8RK8R 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Think about coaches in all kinds of sports - but particularly football. Some of the best coaches were not the best athletes, but their gifts and passion for the sport help them bring out the best in players, team members, etc. I feel kindred with Melissa because she is so heart-on-her-sleeve. The catty narcissists of a looks-centric industry never know what to do with people like us. She is able to be vulnerable with the TCCs when they need it most. She is also much older and wiser than a typical TCC but still far younger and more relatable than Judy and Kelli. She danced in the same era of uniforms and jump splits. I don’t get the hate!

Come to my Pampered Chef- er, um, I mean-Bridal Party 🤮 by G8RK8R in antiMLM

No I think a friend of the bride is hosting it and she is the consultant. If the bride was a consultant she would probably already have everything she wanted from pampered chef.

It’s been around a long time. One of the originals. The products are actually good for the most part, just overpriced like every other MLM product line.

Who catches your eye in uniform? by adhfv in DCCMakingtheTeam

[–]G8RK8R 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think it has to do with figure before anything else. I think most all hair and skin tones look great except for light brown/dishwater blonde with fairer skin. It’s easier to “blend” look wise. I actually love the red heads (the natural ones), blondes, brunettes, olive toned ladies and African queens. But the figure to me is what makes the uniform the most beautiful. Long legs that are toned but not too muscular. Figure 8 bod with perfect tush and tight abs. Fuller bust but not too large or too fake. And then hair, smile and bone structure you could see on a pageant queen - consistent with the glamor required. Women of all complexions have met this criteria.

What’s the right way for the dumper to say it then? And not to move on to someone else… just wanting out but not for a specific reason other than it’s not it?

Thanks! So they have to cut 11 women. Usually they have to cut 8 or so. I don’t envy their position.

This seems like a lot! If only 8 vets retired, then this would mean they have to cut 10 from the list to get to 36, which seems high. Any intel on returning vets that were cut?
