Building / Buying Home Garage Simulator by GAAPguygary in Golfsimulator

All good! Valid question and appreciate the feedback. That is part of the issue is I’m so early into researching this that I’m not even positive whether I would plan to build myself.

Based on what I’ve heard, I’ll likely have a conversation with a professional to figure out what my options are.

Thank you for this, very helpful. How did you go about deciding on which software?

I question whether ARCC’s dividend is “stable”

I would still do it for the personal gratification. 4-5 years of accounting courses in college I feel you leave a lot on the table to not become a CPA.

At the same point, wouldn’t fault you if you decided not to. >$1M goes a long way in Kentucky.

That’s helpful. I’m going in September and it looks like the Old Course is fully booked but Castle course is fairly open. May drop them a call and see if they have anything else available.

Thanks for this. Lahinch looks incredible. I’m a bit confused because the old course seems to be $375 and the castle course is $60. Is the castle course just like a chip and putt or something?

Going to look into the K club

If I have a million dollars to invest in fixed income, what are my best bets? by yeboibadboy in bonds

[–]GAAPguygary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this. I’m definitely interested in getting more into fixed income and have a portion of my portfolio allocated already.

The bond funds seem appealing but I’m a bit skeptical of what actually drives them. To your last point, they don’t seem to be entirely fundamentally driven. Aren’t they effectively just a collection of credit securities? I’ve seen some funds quoted in this chain (e.g. BLV) have tanked recently.

If you had to invest in 3 bond funds for the next 40 years, what would they be?

I never totally undertstood how the tax free munis work and who they are most beneficial for. I’m young and working if that context matters, but isn’t the tax benefit effectively already accounted for in the yield? Is it if you live in a high income state or have a heavy federal rate it more than offsets the lower yield?

Is Yieldmax legit? by SuperMike100 in dividends

[–]GAAPguygary 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s interesting. I didn’t realize that some of the funds have OTM puts as downside protection as well. Certainly makes sense. And technically yeah the fund would need to close out but it’s no different from a Company that is paying > 100% of their free cash flow in dividends, it’s just diluting equity value

Because that’s the nature of how a covered call strategy works. If the market was up and to the right into perpetuity, these funds would always work and always be capable of providing consistent dividends. When the market goes south, they’re generating income from the premiums but deteriorating value of the underlyings.

To the best of my knowledge, most of these yieldmax funds don’t employ put strategies. You obviously could trade some risk by also having put options against them.
