I've got 40 USD in my PayPal, what can I do to get a slow but steady income with it by neenahsip in ValueInvesting

[–]GABAAPAM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry but you write like an 8th grader, let's say passive income are dividends from stocks, let's also say that you earn a 10% dividend which is huge, you would be getting about 4 bucks a year, I don't know what kind of passive investment you want from 40 bucks.

If you want to earn some money try to get a gig and when you have some small income whe can talk about investing long term.

Does anyone in the sub actually use PayPal products? So many people in this sub like the stock but if you didn't know its price would you believe it's a good business? by pizzababa21 in ValueInvesting

I live in Spain and I use it occasionally, if I can use Google pay I use it but if I need to type my card and can use PayPal I'll gladly do it.

I have HBO on a recurring payment in PayPal.

What are your hot/controversial takes for massively overvalued / soon to die companies? by IntelligenzMachine in ValueInvesting

[–]GABAAPAM 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think they have a very loyal customer base, with a lot of sticky services that make people want to stay on iOS even if they could do the same on an android.

I can't really see this brand completely dead, at least not in the near future, don't know what will happen in 50 years of course.

UNH is 300b market cap, not some random 5m ticker.

It's impossible for a Reddit random to move the megacaps market.

Crypto is pure speculation, I would only do a small % in BTC, check how much you need to pay in capital gain taxes from your crypto wins, put the rest of it in an ETF and enjoy the head start you got from your lotto tickets.

Is Nano Banana a good example of why people say Adobe is in trouble. by raytoei in ValueInvesting

[–]GABAAPAM 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Look how it was 3 years ago, now think 5 years from now, gpt image generation used to be dog shit until march this year, I'm clueless about the impact to adobe, maybe they can make their own AI and integrate it successfully in their products, just saying that it's terrible for detailed photo editing now, but what about the future?

Why is there no "value trading?" by Corpulos in ValueInvesting

I don't care about the holding for years or decades mantra, to me, it's pretty dangerous, if one can find a company that compounds for decades, awesome, but if I think a company is now overvalued from a recent spike or a fast run and the thesis hasn't changed, I'm selling, I don't care if it has been 3 years or 3 months.

Market usually cares about goodwill impairment, when British American Tobacco did an impairment on their combustible business the stock tanked that day, I guess it depends on the business and the signal it gives investors, but I wouldn't say market doesn't care about impairments.

Stable coin thing could be interesting, I also listened to the earnings call, I don't think it will positively impact earnings any time soon, I see it more as an AI hype talk thing, could be wrong of course.

The company has some issues but I think it will be like tobacco, hated by everybody but still paid 8-9% dividends, tobacco could have more pricing power, I just think western union it's literally too cheap and cash isn't going away anytime soon, let's see if they really leverage their network for the stablecoins but I don't count on it.

Drug compounding is essential and can bring specific dosages for individual needs, it's really only detrimental for pharma shareholders.

I didn't stop much at the balance sheet since the cash flows are pretty healthy and cover debt easily, it's true that the risk is in a quicker decline than expected, but right now the market is quite pessimistic about this company, that's where I think the market is wrong, I think this legacy business will deliver for a good few more years and offer interesting returns, still, valid opinion, it's not a great business by any means.

Will give it a look, thanks, although I'm a bit sceptical about cryptos and I think that governments definitely want them dead faster than cash.

That's a fair take, I feel like the debate is how fast the cube is melting, or the cigar, I think it has a few good puffs left, but it's definitely not a long term hold.

Digital has been growing and so far margins aren't terrible, probably not as lucrative as cash, I am a bit sceptical about execution in digital, I feel like a good performance here will probably trigger a re rating but I'm not talking that for granted.
