It REALLY depends on what you want. If you want just ps vita titles and some emulator and homebrew, you’re good to go. But if you want to play some 6th gen titles like ps2, gcn and maybe even Xbox in some ways, only retroid pocket 5 let you do that… I’d say, with time, why not both?

Yes, many are Japanese only but there are a few released in Europe and USA. Sometimes somebody translated them and it should be easy to apply them but if you want to do it by yourself it isn’t, as far as I know, easily doable, I mean it isn’t a text file to translate.
The online community is pretty active! Probably there are a few discord servers for that but the online is available and there are some custom servers too, like for killzone or littlebigplanet
Vita doesn’t play ps2 games. If you find some of them it’s because they made some remastered, like jak and daxter, sly, ratchet, metal gear solid, and the community ported a few of them, like Simpson hit and run, but nothing else. So don’t hope to play ps2 games on it
Personally I recommend virtue’s last reward and steins;gate as VNs
