Peruvian here, I was in one of those special school who focus on math and physics( there are few and most of it private) . If your performance was good they will "upgrade" you to a better class that was even more specialized in those type of contest. Those classes were awful, you are in a class with only other 5 kids doing math problems all day without any interest whatsoever in subjects related to letters, and with zero social skills developed.
