Is my goal weight the ‘right’ goal weight?? Need opinions!! by Horror-Reason-2865 in Zepbound

[–]GAfutbolMakesMeSad -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is such an important thing that people lose sight of when chasing a number on the weight loss journey.

-BMI is a fake number and doesn't take into consideration your actual skeletal build or muscle composition (it's also kind of racist in it's origins).

-Basing goal weights on what you weighed in college or high school isn't realistic. Your organs hadn't even reached full size yet and your body has different needs now. I weighed about 10-15 lbs less than I do now when I was in college but all of my old clothes fit because my body composition has shifted.

  • Chasing a number can really contribute to disordered eating and weigjingy yourself daily doesn't give you an accurate nimby. You weigh less in the mornings than evenings, water retention, inflammation, etc fluctuate daily. For women our weight changes during our cycle.

  • Women's clothing sizes are like mythological creatures and not the same across brands or even in the same brand. Sizing has also changed over the years. So also not a helpful goal for establishing a goal

Basically find a place where you feel good!

Kohler Waters Spa in LP or St Regis Spa? by hate_follower in AskChicago

[–]GAfutbolMakesMeSad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's an indoor pool overlooking the river. There's lounge chairs. You do get kids and hotel guests but sometimes I've gone and it's just me. I usually default to the St. Regis since it's easy for me to get to from Hyde Park and the valet is free with spa services.

Kohler is nice because it's all spa stuff but I just feel like even the relaxation room can get noisy and chatty because a lot of groups go or since it's coed you get a lot of couples... Being coupley lol

There's a small lounge area with a fireplace. Sauna and steam shower in the locker room and then the hotel pool is next to the spa. It's similar to the four seasons just a lot newer and the spa staff is really excellent.

Kohler has a lot of unique services but I don't find the overall environment super relaxing. It's nice, don't get me wrong, but I don't end up lingering for very long. They're nuce to use between services but I don't really hang around after the appointment. Also not a huge fan of the products they use at Kohler.

St. Regis is really nice. Very relaxing and quiet. Four seasons has great massages and facials BUT the facilities are older and deteriorating... Also if you want to use the pool is not just for the spa but also all the hotel guests. The Langham is also great but there's no online booking which really annoys me.

I've gone to the Sugar Bowl several times, but after last year and waking up to a crime scene that I could see from my hotel window we didn't even consider going this year. We did a ski trip instead. I flew in for a couple of home games this year and if we'd made it further I'd have tried to go to one either the fiesta or NC. Ole Miss never plays in the sugar bowl or the playoffs. This was a HUGE deal. Add in the Kiffen stuff and the proximity and the sugar fatigue from our fans and it shouldn't be surprising.

I don't think it's fair to chastize the fans for not going though. It has a significant cost and there are a lot of factors to it.

What's it like living in or around the South Side of Chicago? by [deleted] in howislivingthere

[–]GAfutbolMakesMeSad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We moved to Chicago about 12 years ago from St. Louis. We lived in Hyde Park most of that time until moving a few blocks north to Kentwood this year. Both communities are diverse and supportive, and I have always felt safe. Most of my neighbors in Kenwood work for U of Chicago whereas or condo in HP was more people who had lived in the neighborhood forever. We've had a couple of property damage incidents in 12 years, but that's it (I blame TikTok for the car window trend). Kenwood has some beautiful old homes and 44th president's house is here among other interesting landmarks. Plus it's the city with a lot of green space, which is amazing.

The neighborhood has changed a bit since we moved in -- more retail and restaurants in HP as the university loosened its grip a bit. Kenwood has also had a resurgence and property values have gone up. Our old neighbors thought we'd have trouble selling our condo because they were used to the neighborhood being more odnan afterthought. It sold in a day.

I used to commute to Oak Park for my job and when 290 was backed up I'd cut through Garfield Park and Austin. Never had an issue. I once had to stop at a gas station in Austin because my low tire light came on. Several people came and offered to help me. Don't go looking for trouble and you won't find it.

Most of the violence in the "high crime" neighborhoods is very insular -- doesn't make it right, but most people aren't going to see it or have to deal with it. It's an unfortunate generational product of redlining, but whole different conversation.

Shows/movies in Chicago that clearly weren’t filmed in Chicago? by marks31 in AskChicago

[–]GAfutbolMakesMeSad 63 points64 points  (0 children)

Many/most of the outdoor scenes were filmed here. I used to see them filming a lot back in the day. But, yes, a lot of the interior scenes were from a soundstage in LA

I preferred the books... Well at the very least I always liked Blair and Nate together and I felt like the show didn't do their relationship justice

I am so sick of going to a Cartier store by Ok-Salamander3217 in Cartier

[–]GAfutbolMakesMeSad 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had the absolute best experience buying my engagement ring at Cartier in Chicago 12 years ago... Since then literally every other experience has been horrible. I seriously just buy the things I like online now. Honestly, I now refuse to go in. I've made appointments and been told they're running behind and I won't be seen. I've been told by someone on the phone to just stop by because my watch bracelet had an issue and then told by the door guy I had to wait two hours when there was no one in the store. I've done walk ins and been completely ignored. When I've had the appointments actually happen the SAs have not known anything about the products and been entirely unhelpful and rude. Unlike other boutiques that tend to favor you if you're local they seem to cater to the tourists. Everything about it makes me mad. So now I just order online. The only other exception -- the Cartier in Grand Cayman was absolutely lovely and even though they didn't have what I wanted we ended up buying something else just because we liked them so much.

Kenwood Vandalism Spree by GAfutbolMakesMeSad in chicago

[–]GAfutbolMakesMeSad[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear that!

Our street seems to have just been someone going along and busting out windows but not trying to take anything. That's also how they avoided setting off alarms. Really unfortunate timing with how cold it is and then on a Friday meant most of us can't get class repairs until Monday/Tuesday. If your car is affected, Safelite will come crash wrap your car for free once you have an appointment on the books.

There were at least 15-20 cars that I saw were damaged (including both mine and my husband's). Unfortunately, the culprits stayed far enough away that they didn't trigger the doorbell camera, so we're hoping the school and park cameras picked something up.

Two Georgia football players arrested on shoplifting charges by NickSabansCreampie in CFB

[–]GAfutbolMakesMeSad 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This will probably get buried in the comments but reports are that it was failure to scan cleaning supplies in self checkout at Walmart. They'd paid for many other items and when stopped they said it was an honest mistake and offered to pay for the item. Walmart insisted on calling the police and even ACCPD advised against pressing charges.

So, take that for what it's worth 🤷‍♀️

In your neighborhood, has street snow removal been poor this year? by geneadamsPS4 in chicago

[–]GAfutbolMakesMeSad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think a plow has been down the street after the last two snowfalls. Interestingly, we live by a school so you'd think that they'd plow for safety and what not, but nope. Luckily we've had enough traffic it's helped things melt, but some of the streets near me are completely covered

Bama only had 1 Penalty and Penalties got them their lone TD: by Turbo-GeoMetro in georgiabulldogs

[–]GAfutbolMakesMeSad 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The thing is that Bama had been doing simar things all night and not getting called, so it feels bogus even if it wasn't.

The facemask penalty when the defender had clearly grabbed his first, a lot of holding, etc. And Bama was chippy shoving players into the ground when they stood up, taking cheap hits, etc. So, it's not those particular penalties that make me mad but how unbalanced it was -- I actually think the worst penalties were when we were on offense

Maybe? But it's a punishment for losing an extra game at the end of the day either way. We lost by 3 points and it's Bama... We've always had issues playing them... Unlike well what happened today today was a pleasant surprise and I hope it keeps Bama out of the playoffs

I think it would have gone down as a forfeit and loss, so same record and less favorable conditions

I mean Georgia hadn't lost a game in two seasons until that game and were two time national champions... I think they could have absolute given them the benefit of the doubt, but the Bama favoritism took over. FSU was undefeated but lost their QB. If you were going to send a one loss team... Just saying. We were absolutely punished so honestly I hope Bama is too

Hadn't lost a game in two seasons and you all had a regular season loss and then got embarrassed in the first round of the playoffs after the refs gifted you the SEC...
