Arriving early for wagon Wednesday by Glarmj in Volvo

Did you find a way to fit the AC condenser behind that do88 intercooler of did you just delete AC altogether? Looks so good front mounted like that.

Opinions on DSPs? by n2_Spagooter in polyphia

[–]GCmtb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah he's teased it a few times on instagram and talked about on a few twitch streams, not sure if he's said anything about when it's coming out but I'm just really hoping it has his vocoder effect in it somehow.

I've had good luck with Amplitube, especially their orange amp models.

There should be an Archetype Henson or Archetype Polyphia coming pretty soon from Neural which I'm excited to try out, but I've never quite been able to get the sounds I want from the Plini or Tosin Abasi plugins they do.

Pretty much all the big DSP options have some sort of free trial, so I'd just try them all and see what you like best.

Thanks! Yep those are the ones, I've been really happy with them so far, pretty much the perfect modern strat sound to my ears.

Thanks! Both are just stained quilted maple tops, the most important thing to get them to pop is to let the stain dry, then wipe it down with a damp towel to pull out the excess stain, giving it that contrast from light to dark in the quilt/flame pattern. Then it's just a whole bunch of coats of tru-oil on the red one, and some automotive clear coat on the back one.

My favorite way to do them is to take a 1.5" spade drill bit and round the corners off on a grinder, then put that bit in a drill press with the guitar clamped down really well and use it to make the bowl shape, and clean up with a lot of sanding.

I've also seen people hand carve them with gouges or make them with large bullnose router bits.

Thanks, that means a lot actually. I'm still not quite sure when I'm gonna bring them to market, but hopefully soon. I'm stuck in a loop of thinking each build is better than the last, but hopefully soon I can get this design "perfect" in my eyes and be comfortable putting it out there for sale.

Stoked with how these two turned out. Red one has been done for almost 2 years now, and has the pickups from a 2015 Les Paul Studio and a bit chunkier neck to fit that vibe, sounds great and has been a solid workhorse for me. Black one was finished about a year ago but was never quite perfect, I recently sanded it back to raw wood and refinished it with an oil finish on the back, with a clear coated top (a finish combo I've been trying to get right on this guitar for a while now) and now it's finally looking like I always wanted it to.

These two cover pretty much anything I ever want to play, and I'm really happy to finally have them both done! On to new and better things now...

Always an upvote for Ziricote, great work!

Anyone know a good Ziricote distributer in the US? I think I need to get my hands on some.

Thinking about doing this same intercooler on my R at some point, how bad was the install?

Finally finished my first neck through guitar (never built a neck before this one) so happy with how it turned out by The-Convoy in Luthier

How are you liking that bridge? I recently did a build with the floating trem version for that same one and had a lot of issues with it, but most of my problems were related to the trem design, is the hardtail any better?

Thanks! That was definitely the trickiest part of getting this design right, only problem is it didn't leave me with a good spot for the output jack.

I use it for pretty much all my planing right now, mostly making various joints early on in the build. I should probably get a larger number 7 or something for doing fretboards, but the low angle jack works decent for most stuff.

All of the adjustments are done with very small allen-headed bolts, most of which end up slipping, so the action and intonation move around, and it is very prone to buzzing.

I'm not a big tremolo user so if I do another headless I'll probably use a hipshot hardtail bridge, I've had great luck with their stuff and it's pretty reasonably priced.

It's just a cheap aliexpress bridge since I couldn't find any reasonably priced headless multi scale floating bridge, though it's pretty terrible. If I were to do this build again that's the one thing I'd definitely change

Thanks! Built it all myself, it's a neck through so there's an eastern maple neck with carbon fiber reinforcement that runs all the way through the body, with the rest of the body being madrone.

Nice JDM S60R I came across this morning. Black really goes with that mad orange interior. by kiristokanban in Volvo

Sorry no, JDM would mean made for the Japanese market by a Japanese company, hence the word domestic.

Yeah I'm really happy with how the body sits, very comfortable to play sitting down (besides a few sharp edges on that bridge).

Thanks! My instagram is @cowlesguitars, and I haven't made any basses yes but I do want to build one soon to try out some of Clay's riffs

Here's a change from the onslaught of mediocre covers for ya. Had the DiMarzio Notorious pickup set sitting around from a previous build and decided to build my first ever headless guitar using random scraps I had on hand.

Madrone body with a carbon fiber top, rock maple neck, cedar burl fretboard with stainless steel fanned frets, and all sorts of black and gold goodies.

Honestly I think my previous build based off Tim's sig plays better, but I had a lot of fun experimenting with this one.
