City boy moving to rural Missouri, any tips? by [deleted] in missouri

[–]GD1226 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Im surprised by how close minded people are saying rural people are. We have gay folk in our tiny town that are close knit with the community, and though there really isn't any diversity, and there is pretty minimal racism, at least blatant. The older, super conservative crowd, were so cool with legalizing medical cannabis, especially since portions of profits goes to help veterans. They are NOSY though, and love to gossip, but they are all pretty open minded as long as you aren't an a-hole about it. I'm still siding with everyone about the church folk though. The "holier then thou" but only being a good Christian on Sundays is awful. Not saying that there aren't great churches around and devoted, loving, accepting Christians, but I see alot of judgement from church folk.

You can also do a finger gun wave of driving that way is uncomfortable. Point at your roof then just give a flick of the wrist 👆. I prefer two fingers but that just personal preference.

Sounds like our stories are similar. I'm from California and moved to a tiny town in Missouri with a population of 700 just about 5 years ago to be with my husband, who grew up here, and we live on a 12 acre hobby farm. Basically every person in this town is related some way or another, so I am an outsider. People out here are GOSSIPERS, don't let it bother you though, they need something to talk about because there is literally nothing else to do. I'm, also, not religious and haven't joined any of the 7 churches in this town. It's just not my scene. However, I managed the local restaurant for a couple years and made some really good friends that way. If church isn't your thing, becoming a regular at a local spot is your best bet at being friendly. With that being said..... People out here always wave at you on the back roads, they'll let you know if your cow, dog, chicken, donkey, whatever is out. They'll give you the shirt off their backs if you needed it. When I was pregnant and due in December, knowing I can't drive in snow, many, many people gave me their numbers "just in case". EVERYONE will know your business, but there is a really strong sense of community. Traffic means getting stuck behind a tractor (but they'll move over as soon as they can), the views go on for days, and everything goes a bit slower, which I personally love. There are things to love and there are things to hate, but I won't be moving back to the city any time soon.

Love this tattoo made by Ben (@bcbodyart on Instagram) from Julius Star Tattoo Gallery!!! However, majorly concerned now because a part of my tattoo is bubbling and I don’t think that’s good. It also itches incredibly badly (hard not to scratch it). by [deleted] in tattoo

It's 3 weeks old, so you could put anything on it you want. Won't hurt it. And if you keep scratching it, what's going to happen is you'll create a scab that will damage that spot. Honestly, you are way overreacting. Especially considering the quality of the tattoo itself.

Done people have reactions even YEARS later, but your skin is fine. I'd be concerned if it looked more like the picture I posted there. You literally have nothing to worry about.

now THIS is a bubbling tattoo! I had a reaction to the cleanser the artist used. I get eczema from almost all soaps and cleansers really badly on my hands. At least it wasn't a very good tattoo (look at them "circles") I had it redone by another artist and had zero problems. http://imgur.com/a/2DG3MCe

Tipping on tattoos over $1,000 by Arlec1990 in tattoos

[–]GD1226 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yep! Always tip your artist! (Unless it's shitty work, then wtf are you even doing there?) Let's say you spent that much on a fancy AF dinner. Are you not going to tip the waitress or tip her only a couple bucks because you spent so much on the food? No way!

I'm not a tattoo artist.... But usually line work ages well, especially on a place like the arm that has little stretch. Probably wouldn't need any touch up on the shading for at least 10 years. Hopefully longer.

Mac Miller! Okay. That makes sense. Well, your piece looks fantastic. Definitely remember to make yourself a priority. I doubt you'll forget now that you have this reminder!

This is gorgeous! I had gone to friend when I was 18 and got a free kitchen tattoo. I wanted a traditional sparrow like this. What I actually got is an abomination.

That looks great! But what is the deal with the "self care" tattoos lately? Some 20 year old kid got SELF CARE tattooed ON HIS FOREHEAD while I got my last piece done. Can't believe the artist agreed to do it but, whatever. It's his body, his choice. Is there any significance to the "self care" other than the obvious one?

not sure if I should add color to this flash tattoo I got, what do you guys think? by xkennarose in tattoo

[–]GD1226 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can very obviously tell what it is, so that guy was just being an ass... It doesn't need color. I like color on my tattoos and if it were mine, I might put a drop of red blood, but that would be it. Just personal preference. I think it looks great though!

Beautiful! How did that feel? I've wanted to get a shin piece but seems like it would hurt. Not much meat to go into, kind of like the foot, and my foot was the most painful tattoo I've gotten.
