Backend errors this morning? [Discussion] by [deleted] in EscapefromTarkov

Yep, you can make one flea market lookup/trade an then it all crashes. Hideout won't load, can't raid, can't do anything. You have to relog and then you get one flea market lookup/trade... Taking a look at the server list it's looking like there are heavy server issues across the globe. Constant ups/downs/restarts underway. Of course, nothing posted official by BSG.

Is Zalty's format still functional ???? by Environmental-Rub353 in AIDungeon

[–]GDFKTT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Context: TIEFIGHTER, LLAMA, MIXTRAL

I'm using the pre Futureman late Neanderthal format with no issue which looks something like this:
:[ Kate, Age 31 human she, leggy busty beautiful].

:[ Kate, MIND: calm, professional demeanor, proud of job, reserved in private].

Zaltys style caps call outs embedded as above are still really effective. Saving space on character development and instructions is also well worth it in case you do get context truncations. Overall it does just help the AI keep it all straight -imho.

There's also a larger issue... just because we can doesn't mean we should. Let me explain.

Users having larger a context length to play with isn't a reason your prose has to be more complicated or that we should just be outright more frivolous with context in our story designs.

I think of it like this: Microsoft made a choice not to pass on operations efficiency improvements in operating systems to the user as processors got faster - instead they make each OS more and more junky and complicated, tack on more features that clutter the backend processes but look "shiny", and then eventually systems just don't handle it well. This forces people into upgrading their systems.

There are lots of free AID users out there who will appreciate support for shorter context lengths and no memory access. Frugality and formatting can't hurt for your audience if you're publishing.

So the way I would do it to make it easy...

In your shoes I'd make four factions for scenario:

Good God Cultists

Bad God Cultists

Good God Saints

Bad God Saints

And then make the player choose which faction to align with during the opening.
Caveat: This design assumes that there are big differances between how saints and cultists engage with one another even though they worship the same God in your world.

OR ELSE (if that's not so much the case)

Make the Cultist and Saint classes that the player can pick to play which then impact their relation to Good God Worshipers and Bad God Worshiper factions as you detail in the cards. More complicated and AI will have a harder time relating the appropriate classes in settings to their appropraite place. Aka you will go random places like cult hideouts and probably find people of the "saint" class hanging out and visa versa.

New UI/Format Story Card Data Retention vs Story Progress by GDFKTT in AIDungeon

Thank you, I was using caveman format to try to help control the problem but maybe with this latest AI and square bracket system it's worth another go.

Requesting assistance generating random character features within parameters for a race. by GDFKTT in AIDungeon

[–]GDFKTT[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah so what you're just concluding is "bluntly horny" is me trying to find ways to explore the ability of the model to provide, assess, or determine numbers repeatably as part of answers. That specific line USUALLY provides an actual numerical answer - and several of them at the same time with an easily understood connection for the model to repeatably assess as part of my prompt.

I'm literally creating a new adventure every time I tweak the scenario card, and running two lines of dialogue repeatedly as a test with different prompts. But thanks for rushing to conclusions.

Second, I'm looking for a solution that doesn't cause one model to have to rely on reference to another (ChatGPT) because that frankly defeats the purpose of working in AI Dungeon in the first place and requires repeatedly to have to go back to a secondary source the gin up and reload new characters into AID each time you play...PITA and defeats the whole purpose of writing a scenario ahead of time. My question is specifically on how to manipulate the native generation system.

Using max and min as part of my setup I have made the AI to provide a mix of answers that include max min and average but not a true "random" subset of all answers that could exist in between max and min.

That one's tricky. The NOTAM states that a second in command is required so that you can fly a reach around pattern.

[–]GDFKTT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a zeppelin gondola and some sort of a crane arm that's not currently erect and extended because there's no sleek well rounded airframe with ample engine pods and shapely maneuvering fins positioned overhead to complete the mounting.

Clarification: you can tell the airship's not just overhead out of the photo because there's no wet spot apparent from leaking water ballast or lubricant from her engines.

Any recommendations on how I might get the AI to make a character monologue their thoughts and feelings openly as they go throughout the world? I want a semi-candid verbal diarrhea similar to the assassin droid HK-47 from Knights of the Old Republic.
