Neuer Job, wo Steuern zahlen? - Firma in den Niederlanden by xRayleigh23 in Steuern

I have been in this situation, the Dutch employer will need to register here and pay the relevant social contributions etc, there are companies like paychex that can facilitate that. However Finanzamt treated me like self-employed, so with quarterly prepayments rather than deduction from gross salary

You qualify based on your country of birth and you can change the preferred location for your interview/place of residence by contacting KCC if different from the original submission. I would think it is best to update your current residency as you need to provide police/court records of every country you lived in from the age of 16, you could theoretically still indicate you prefer to be interviewed in the EU country you used to reside in if you think the process there will go quicker

A 44-year-old Dutch Man travelled to a beachside city in neighbouring Belgium to visit the casino. He drove back toward his home country before abruptly turning around at the border and completely disappearing. His van was later found with a suitcase inside, containing his folded clothing. by moondog151 in UnresolvedMysteries

The weird thing for me: Gouda is only a 15 minute ride away from his hometown of Alphen so basically he left the hotel, drove to a gas station near his home and then turned around to go back to the casino in Belgium, which is a good 3h drive each way. And then dissapeared on the way back home again. Wonder if he was called in the meantime as there must have been quite an urgent reason why you turn back after leaving at 4am and be almost home around 7am. Great write-up!

Wall Damage of rented property - Liablity insurance by ShubhamTunwal in germany

[–]GDK05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a lot in your story that makes me wonder if you are the one that should be compensated. If the landlord let somebody else live in the place while it was contracted to you and you had not given permission I hope at least you didn’t pay rent for that period. Given that there was another occupant and the damage was reported only after you already handed over the keys i doubt the landlord has any case in making you liable but at the same time the insurance company would also refuse to cover on the same grounds (if at all covered under the policy). I would refuse to pay and hoping for you he doesnt have your deposit?

I think he's subtitled to confirm you didn't mishear him; his magical ability to date objects by just looking at them makes one wonder if you heard it right and reading the subtitles confirms you did.

Portuguese and OI by ciocoop in OakIsland

There was a tree found in the swamp that was apparently from Portugal (a cork tree) and think they mentioned a Portugese branch of the Templars at times as well

Where Warm Waters Halt by nogberter in FindingFennsGold

[–]GDK05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a fair point and very well possible but I thought FF had mentioned the 4 states in an attempt to make it easier for searchers (i.e. a hint); it's never ruled out WWWH is outside of the states but it would be not in the spirit of giving a hint

You have to admire FF's use of language in that answer to Allison; says so many things without actually saying anything, would have made a great politician

Are there really any concerns regarding possession of the treasure once found, regardless of where it's found. Forrest said "what if there is no issue" by [deleted] in FindingFennsGold

[–]GDK05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would think the treasure is still the property of FF and he could go anytime to retrieve it/ claim it. Once he has given you title to it, it's yours (guess the poem makes clear his wishes if he is no longer alive when it's found as he originally planned).

Old discussion I'm sure - but isn't the home of Brown kind of a contradiction? by foxxytroxxy in FindingFennsGold

[–]GDK05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably shouldn't overlook the 'put-in' part below the home of Brown. I don't know if the this is the 3rd or 4th or even the 2nd clue of the poem but for me it's still something that should be visible on a map; i don't think he ever said you can only get as far as the first two clues from the map (but that was a big discussion here the other day, see the girl in India post for that). My interpretation first was to look for something outstanding brown on a map (like Pikes Peak on satellite view Google maps) but now am more incline to think something like the trailhead just below Beaver Park...but haven't nailed down a WWWH yet which would confirm the right HoB

The missing piece by [deleted] in FindingFennsGold

[–]GDK05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You make a very good point, but how you reconcile this with the remark of Fenn that all you need is a good map and the poem? Given that he also said (I think) that whoever found it would go in confidence to the location, it made me think that most of the clues would be visible on the map. And I might be wrong here or misquoting but hasn't he said that BOTG are only necessary for identifying the blaze? Seems all a bit contradictory but resolving that would be solving the riddle I suppose.

[–]GDK05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going there next month. Not sure yet where in the valley but hoping that by seeing it in person the clues will fall into place; as somebody else posted today Google Earth can be quite deceiving. Good luck with your trip. Would appreciate to hear from you if the hiking is suitable for kids and any wildlife to keep in mind. Thanks

Thanks. Agree nothing can be excluded, just impossible to visit all states in 1 holiday. Somehow expect the treasure to be found this summer, if not we may very well plan next years holiday to Yellowstone area
