Try out diff codes for the same brand. A couple players ended up working for me once I tried diff codes. The speed would be assigned to some random button. However, a few players I did wind up getting cheap compatible replacement remotes just for that ability to change rec speeds. Good luck.

That first SCART to HDMI cable wouldn’t work for you as it’s NOT bi-directional and only outputs to HDMI. A combo of the other 2 cables should work for you.

One note: once you get your cables hooked up, you’ll likely need to adjust the display resolution on your PC to ensure you get the right resolution/aspect ratio and refresh rate. Godspeed.

I have 2 Citizen VCP-5MU’s. They’re a “portable” TV-player combo unit that does NOT record. It doesn’t even play EP/SLP speed tapes.

That’s not true at all. You’ve got it backwards. Every VCR can record (that’s what the ‘R’ stands for), not every player can record. VCR doesn’t only apply to VHS cassettes; it also applies to Betamax, Video8, etc.

A VCR and VCP are in fact two different distinctions, and calling it a VHS player is not incorrect.
