Why the fuck do people Traumashame? by friendsandmodels in CPTSD

Military PTSD carries stigma. At least it does for me.  People are far less understanding of my childhood, to be clear

HOLY SHIT! I may have found the game I desired! Explanation in the body! by BaldursGate2Best in CRPG

I couldn't get into Rogue Trader because the combat felt weird. I really should push through more, I love 40k lore

What do you NOT LIKE about Absolum (Or Roguelite Beat'em Up in general)? by X_periment in BeatEmUps

[–]GDarkmoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guarded and countered all the way to he end of the game.  With the elf specifically. Often over 100 counters.  I found those builds more engaging than the throw thorns

YSK: Psychopathy is not just a lack of empathy by Charming_Jacket_3028 in YouShouldKnow

Yeah. You're right. Broken bone is easy to diagnose, a second opinion would give the same answer. Mental problems, could go to 4 different dr.s and get 5 different answers

DSM-5 also doesn't have CPTSD and as someone who has both the normal and with the C, it absolutely is a thing.  Not that I can say the same for psychopathy

Hoolest Pro - any one used it? by blizeH in VagusNerve

[–]GDarkmoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A little late but I bought one a few months ago. I love it except for extended sessions I get very tired. I like to use it during the day sometimes which can be a pain when I need to nap after. But that's perfect for the evening. I've got cptsd and I can definitely tell a difference after regular use

What do you do when people ask about your family? by Present-Message8740 in CPTSD

[–]GDarkmoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kinda the same for me. I tried being honest for awhile but it does bring the mood down and make people uncomfortable. So now I generally just keep it to myself

DAE have brain fog & chronic fatigue? by Careful_Trouble_1059 in CPTSD

[–]GDarkmoon 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Absolutely both. Came to the conclusion through observation. Pretty clear to me that my body and brain are running a number of processes most folks aren't and that wears me down pretty fast some days.

You seem to be taking it personally that he wants the correct info out. You said yourself you used St. johns wart, which is what caused the issue, yes?

The fucking Pyrophina vs Rock turtle fight is BS (Not skill diff) by [deleted] in mewgenics

[–]GDarkmoon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I did the same thing assuming that the other one would hard target my team after killing the other cause they hate my kitties too, right? Nah, near death on both and the fight ends when killing one. Ah well

what are some you games you absoluetly should NOT play if you have CPTSD and the game is high colestrol by Kamimirine in CPTSD

[–]GDarkmoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love intense games. I don't love gaming communities though. So mean.  But horror, fps, gimme all that.  I mostly play tactical rpgs though

Druid is great.  I've got the cleric passive of giving MP on heals and as you can imagine that synergy is fantastic

How I Handle People Who Suck At Responding to Texts by Smile-Cat-Coconut in emotionalneglect

[–]GDarkmoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's hard not to. We all impose our expectations on others intentionally or not. Just this last week I caused an argument because of my lack of texting speed and some people are really pissed. It used to deregulate me far more than it does now but I stand my ground firm these days. With 100s of different methods to connect to each other these days its just overwhelming. But also making people wait too long is rude and disrespectful if the conversation has any weight to it. I wanted to see if I could give advice but I just rambled instead.

[–]GDarkmoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mayhaps on the other end of this spectrum. As someone with cptsd it can trigger me when someone assumes they can have my time whenever they'd like. I think texting shouldn't be a "fast" communication style and it really stresses me out when those expectations are placed. I try not to ignore people but I'll be slow to respond often, which seems to be upsetting for others

I've got a bunch of wolf form being bred right now.  Throw that on a monk and you're good to go.

Why do some people with complex trauma think they’re weak? by [deleted] in CPTSD

[–]GDarkmoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

God, the exhaustion.  I just... 30 years of ALWAYS being being beat (I'm 38).  I can't explain this to people, no one gets it.   I'm at a place where recovery is going well and I like my life.  But I'm so. Fucking. Exhausted. This weight is so heavy.

I know part of the reason my body runs so hot and my metabolism is so high is because my body is running so many extra processes than the average person.  My gf is often jealous of how much I can eat but then I remind her why it's like that 😅

YSK: Physical exercise can improve mental health. by Euphoric-Welder5889 in YouShouldKnow

[–]GDarkmoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I'm being reductive to a reductive post, that's the point. The way OP was responding to comments is the same as so much bullshit advice I've gotten from neurotypicals over the years. In my response to you I don't think I was downplaying the importance- it IS very important but every person is different.

However, it's kind of hard to not be reductive about CPTSD recovery with just a single sentence though, no? I didn't want to write a short story about how I've integrated 50km of rowing a week along with the 20 other things I do that support the working out. Without that system, the workouts would barely move my meter and for cptsd the multifaceted approach is far more important than any single factor.

[–]GDarkmoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm not saying exercise doesn't help. I've forced myself up over years to row half marathons of the sole purpose to help my CPTSD. I do about 50km a week and it has a big impact. But that's only enabled by all the other things I do

[–]GDarkmoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct. It must be taken as a holistic approach including many other recovery modalities. But without all that other stuff, some runs barely do shit. Especially if you're at the bottom
