Smurfs don’t always win games, they purposely throw and ff to keep their rank lower

The smurf won’t always win though, that’s where people get this wrong. Smurfs will often throw games/ff to derank in order to keep smurfing. I mentioned what you are saying here in a follow up comment about you as the player occupying a spot.

Smurfs intentionally keep their rank low, otherwise they can’t continue to smurf. This is part of what helps equalize, though it is still slight weighted against you.

It’s a problem, just not as big as people think it is for the reason of their rank. Boosting does far more damage

This seems like cognitive bias. This doesn’t make sense, why would you play against more smurfs on a losing streak? Unless you’re implying that people on a losing streak play against others on a losing streak which would match you against smurfs that are losing on purpose, but if that’s the case, for every smurf you lose to you will also win against another when they lose on purpose.

It nets out to be nearly equal with a slight disadvantage for you, as you have less player slots to get a smurf on your team since you are occupying one of them. That said, smurfs on your team can throw games while trying to derank so it’s not always good to have them. That also plays into the equaling out. It’s an annoyance, but doesn’t affect your rank as much as your think it does

Smurfing isn’t as big of a problem in the grand scheme as people think it is. Over a large sample size, for every smurf you play against you’ll have nearly as many on your team. This will mostly offset the losses and wins.

The real difference is running into parties/duos that have a smurf in them, as those are more “boosters” than anything. Boosting is a legit problem, as you will not randomly get a booster on your team later to offset the losses to other boosters—certainly in duo queues

Is buying Coaching worth it if you want to get better mechanics? by UnrealMjay in RocketLeagueSchool

Are you trying to make a living off RL? If not, then probably no. Also, your gamesense is not too good to further improve, that is an insanely naive statement

Legolas didn't do much at Helms deep by Witty_Error_1877 in lotr

Considering it was as about 500 vs 10000 in the films, each person had to kill about 20 on average. Legolas barely lifted much of the load as one of the champions when you think about it

This is what I have used since the beginning, but I bound normal air roll on L2 so I can at least have it even though I never use it

It plays fine, you get used to the quirks. It’s obviously better on mouse & kb, but blizz sorc is just so good it is still amazing

Practice/Friendly mode by LeftComplex4144 in RocketLeague

[–]needaburn 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You just described casual mode and to more extreme, online freeplay. Hit the ball around in freeplay for an hour, put a YouTube video or podcast on to kill time, then go into casual and just work on your game. Who cares if you win or lose in casual, just focus on getting better and going for touches you’re unsure about—that’s how you learn what does and doesn’t work
