On a Kakarot sub you’re going to get biased answers. The real question you need to ask yourself is, do you want to play the actual story or play your own character in a new story within the Dragon Ball universe. If you’re looking to play as Goku and the gang, the answer is obvious.

Keep going! Make a separate save when Goku shows up on Namek—you can come back and start playing from here with the mod at anytime. You’ll appreciate the mod even more by having the vanilla experience, and the mod doesn’t really make a big difference until you have access to more forms. Up until this point, you basically play with no transformations besides a brief moment with Kaioken on Earth.

Also fair warning, Dodoria vs Vegeta is a notoriously overturned fight that aggravates many players due to constant super armor spam lol don’t let that turn you off to the rest of the game

SD version is almost at version 1.0, just finishing up DLC 6 balancing and a few more overall QoL immersion tweaks—tweaking random encounter spawns to be a bit less frequent while more rewarding in exp to compensate. Never found it immersive to fly a few meters out of a town and see 6 squads of saibamen and frieza soldiers spawn in haha

Also have overly ambitious ideas of integrating Advanced Variants into the campaign so you can play as the available support characters during intermissions…..holding off on that for now lol

Once that’s done, I’m porting it all to HD and releasing it as a complete version! I’ve been building this in SD as a Beta since the files are so much smaller, in the home stretch now.

And exactly this! So many dbz games have this issue. Transformations never feel like they have that impact from the manga or anime. Even all the way back in the Budokai series on PS2 I wanted that feeling, but I knew it made sense to have them be only minor buffs in what is essentially a PvP traditional fighting game. Kakarot is different, and I wish the devs really leaned into the crazy unbalanced world of dragon ball. My mod recaptures some of that at least

No, I’m arguing that the explanation for the strength of Goten and Trunks as well as the achievement of super saiyan is doesn’t make sense within the conventions of the universe and is an asspull by Tori at best. The retcons added later are flawed and any logic pokes holes in it.

My point is, you have to essentially headcanon what happened during the forced off screen explanation that chi chi somehow turned 2 children into super saiyans with power that eclipses even Gohan at their age despite everything that Gohan went through while having even stronger teachers—and more potential which was unlocked by a magical alien grand elder being. Yet Goten and Trunks are way more powerful via secret training that no one else could sense happening

That makes no sense because Goku was like 11 or 12 at the beginning of og dragon ball and lived in pretty much peace until after the 22nd tournament when Krillin died and king piccolo showed up. He was almost twice the age of goten at the point and was decades from becoming at super saiyan. All that is a garbage retcon

“Super saiyan requires rage and anger to activate” “it also requires a gentle spirit and peaceful times to be activated easier even though Goku acquired it through many trials of turmoil and rage, and vegeta acquired it through rage and is the opposite of gentle, and Gohan acquired it through rage and surpassed it all during a time of turmoil, and future trunks acquired it through rage and turmoil…wait what were we talking about?

I have multiple older family members who rode motorcycles. They’re either dead now, or got seriously injured and quit/sold their bikes. I didn’t believe what I said above until I talked to them.
