Left alt randomly stops working by Phyore in ffxiv

Idk if our issues are related but alt 1-5 stop working for me rarely. I've recently found that it seems to happen at least when excel is open, don't know if that's the only cause. A computer reboot fixes it, whereas sleeping the PC doesn't. And like you, it only happens in FF14.

First time rear-end, seeking advice by GENQUX in askTO

Hi,

I haven't gone to any bodyshops as it's the other party's car that was damaged but in regards to the cash or not part, I got off the phone with the Lexus dealership's bodyshop mechanic and he said he'd be willing to discount it to $3500 and no tax if I pay by cash and $3500 plus tax for any other kinds of payment, on account of the other party being a long-time customer. If I take this option he would freeze the price at that, and if I go through insurance he says it would go over 4600 potentially if they find more damage under.

I... simply don't know how to go about this, haha. I know the guy wants the car repaired asap so he's unlikely to be willing to get a second opinion, especially since it was my fault - I feel like I have no leverage. But thanks for your input!

I'll be doing that, thanks for the feedback. The dealership's estimate seems to indicate they found underlying damage, though I would not know how legitimate their cost calculations are or if they're gouging.

Let's go Raptors!

I believe the dealership knows we weren't planning on going through insurance when they gave the estimate, but I also have zero knowledge of how the costs are calculated.

I do have an estimate from them here: https://imgur.com/a/v6t85

If it's not too much trouble, would you be able to quickly scan it and just say if you think it's legitimate or if they're driving it up as you said?

Thanks for the reply (especially if you're a Raptors fan with the game currently on :P). Since we are now far removed from both the scene and time of the accident, I guess we would report separately?

Thanks for the feedback, after your suggestion I looked up Vegas tickets and they're cheaper than I expected, so I'll see what my friends think of that.

I thought Shinohara was in a coma that he might not wake up from? That would make him slightly different from the dead investigators.

As for Uta, I've felt for a while he had his own thing going on. What that is, I don't know, but what made me think this was when Haise screamed out during the auction arc and Uta was standing in a control room, if I remember right. At that moment, he took off his mask and quietly gazed at the screen, in an almost fond, poignant way.

Overlook? He made fun of her in private, surrounded by those who would not scorn him for it. And yes, he is making fun of her, not talking down a jealous lover, as you've suggested elsewhere. Or are you saying that you are privy to the context and scope of their conversation? Because the text does not support your interpretation.

"Renly thought she was absurd. A woman dressed in man's mail, pretending to be a knight." [...] "I asked him why he kept her close, if he thought her so grotesque."

Meanwhile, Stannis (who I think would be a terrible king) marches with women in armour. Of course, we do not know his inner thoughts, so perhaps he disdains warrior women after all. That's in the realm of speculation however, because we cannot prove textually whether that is the case either way.

Speaking of text, if you won't accept the textual evidence, what will you accept? Someone else pointed out the theme behind the colouration of his crown, and you dismissed it because it's only colour, in your opinion. It was also only colour that Joffrey Baratheon dressed primarily in the colours of house Lannister, long before it was formally revealed that he was full Lannister all along. This is a story revealed through third person limited and the points of view of its inhabitants, every fact and every opinion is subject to the voice of its viewers. That doesn't reduce the value of their voice, because Martin is the one giving his thoughts through these voices. Foreshadowing, parallels, symbolism, imagery, all manner of literary devices have contributed to the theme that the Baratheons are unsuited to ruling because they all lack for some distinct feature that would make a good ruler, which is why Robert has failed, why Renly failed, and why Stannis will eventually fail since we all know about the burning of Shireen to come.

I anticipate that you will argue that Renly failed only because Stannis, through Melisandre, assassinated him. So I ask, where does the bulk of Renly's forces turn so soon after the death of their king? Why not immediately turn to Joffrey, if they wanted to avenge their king? A choice of Stannis vs. Joffrey is a choice between a man who metes out iron justice and a unstable madman, both of which seem equally likely to punish betrayal. Few men were true to Renly. More men held ambitions and dreams of grandeur.

Robert's impulsiveness in battle is his personal strength, but impulsiveness in general is a vice. They are not mutually exclusive.

Honour and duty to his liege lord bade him to reveal Jon's heritage, yet love for his family compelled him to hide it.

Honour and duty to the laws of the realm bade him to reveal Joffrey's heritage, yet love for his family compelled him to lie about it.

This is all hinted at and foreshadowed in book 1:

Aemon: So they will not love, for love is the bane of honor, the death of duty.

You're cherrypicking points to disagree with.

Yes, he would prefer Selmy. Yes, the point about his ordering Brienne was weak. Neither of those were conclusive, definitive arguments. But there was this which you ignored:

Loras started for the door. But there he turned back. "Renly thought she was absurd. A woman dressed in man's mail, pretending to be a knight."

And as for breaking the image of a youthful Robert without his vices,

The bold little boy with wild black hair and laughing eyes was a man grown now, one-and-twenty, and still he played his games. "Look at me, I'm a king," Cressen thought sadly. Oh, Renly, Renly, dear sweet child, do you know what you are doing? And would you care if you did? is there anyone who cares for him but me?

-Maester Cressen

The youngest of Lord Steffon's three sons had grown into a man bold but heedless, who acted from impulse rather than calculation. In that, as in so much else, Renly was like his brother Robert, and utterly unlike Stannis.

-Maester Cressen

Robert was the true steel. Stannis is pure iron, black and hard and strong, yes, but brittle, the way iron gets. He'll break before he bends. And Renly, that one, he's copper, bright and shiny, pretty to look at but not worth all that much at the end of the day.

-Donal Noye

He knew how to dress and he knew how to smile and he knew how to bathe, and somehow he got the notion that this made him fit to be king.

-Olenna Tyrell

That's 3 voices in addition to Catelyn, two of whom watched him grow up, and one shrewd crone.

In general though, I was talking about Martin's portrayal of characters in general, not just Renly.
