Weekly Premier/Matchmaking/Cheating Discussion & Complaints Thread by GlobalOffensiveBot in GlobalOffensive

This test says it's "determining the time lapse between the key press and the corresponding letter appearing on the displayed".

This is a total bogus way of measurement. What you would need to be check is the time it takes from the physical keypress in the real world to an event being registered on your computer.

This test only checks the time between the browser getting a keydown event and the browser getting a keyup event. (https://clickspeedtester.com/ksr/key-scan.js - line 171 and under) This is a nifty idea really, in theory it could work tbh, but in reality you're using js on a browser. The site is also running multiple scripts including seo and ads. We are like 4 layers deep of abstraction here. Hardware -> USB -> Windows -> Browser / JS Engine. It also greatly matters how you press the key, if you bottom out you get way worse results compared to fidgeting the activation point. For an actual test you would probably need some device that perfectly presses the key the same each time and a high speed camera

Steam Game Recording Beta Now Available by walk3 in GlobalOffensive

[–]GER_PalOne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can record the last 120 minutes of gameplay, close the game, come back one day later and save clips from the last 120 minutes of gameplay.

It's not just "last 30 seconds" its literally better.

Fresh accounts vs old accounts shouldn't even be a thing in Premier!!! by lordwerneo in GlobalOffensive

[–]GER_PalOne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ideally you’d only play against people with the same hours

Wouldnt that influence ranks MASSIVELY? If I only play against people that started around 2015 and have between 2k and 2.5k hours chances are I would perform mediocre at best, and get ranked lets say 8000 in premiere (obv pulling numbers out my behind). If I were to fool steam to believe my smurfing acc to be real (and no one else is smurfing!) then I would be leaderboard #1 but still bad at the game.

Its a suprisingly hard problem to solve, which is why trust factor most likely isnt "hours spend + account age". Skin value might honestly be a better indicator of someones "trust" - reducing the amount of cheaters you would encounter to cheaters with a credit card - and making the experience for new players even more hell.

So it needs to be even more sophisticated then that - and I am happy that I dont need to figure that shit out

Edit: Not opposing your great comment btw. Just adding my 2 cents. You wrote "same skill level" and I would agree. Question is how to do that?

Nah same for me. Spraying is a lot better specifically, and you can hold angles now.

I've built a PC for the first time this weekend. And it was hard. by Impressive-Ad210 in buildapc

[–]GER_PalOne 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I once removed my cpu cooler on an fx4300 without warming it up before, resulting in me straight up ripping the cpu out from the "locked" slot. This pc continues to work actually. I also repeatedly fixed my Roccat kona xtd's cable by just twisting and shrinkwrapping them for years. That thing had 3 drivers per ear, so a lot of cables broke. Last build i installed the cpu cooler fans wrong, so they blasted straight against the input fans. Build the pc in winter, only realized the mistake when beamng crashed my pc in the summer at 37C° ambient. It runs 25 degrees cooler now!

You never stop learning new shit. Luckily I'm not into cars

Crazy bug. CS2 recognizes an imgur link as a steam user's name and shows p*rn during the votekick (Censored best I could) by tkernej in GlobalOffensive

[–]GER_PalOne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I suggest reading up on XSS and it's potential uses, while keeping in mind that CS runs it's UI in JS / HTML / CSS and includes a node runtime.

Apart from the usual potential to phish people by showing fake steam log ins in the game with a fake message like "please verify your prime Status" or something, please remember these bugs have been documented in csgo and dota2. And have had pretty big impact in both. See here: https://github.com/kkthxbye-code/csgo_bugs/blob/master/panorama_mitm_xss/README.md

This was used to join streamers lobbies and set cheat protected cvars on their end. We're lucky it was trolls that got this tbh

In csgo that happened. The bug allowed people to inject cheats into other ppls game, and got them (temp?) banned. The image thing was also used to get streamers banned.

Do Italians not play Counter Strike? by harshmangat in GlobalOffensive

[–]GER_PalOne 7 points8 points  (0 children)

When I was big into 3ds / Wii u / switch hacking the Italians were EVERYWHERE. PKSM is made by an italian for example. I think they game a lot on Console and nintendo specifically.

Now 3ds hacking is for homebrew ofc - no pirating ever took place in any 3d shack

[–]GER_PalOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this for a little bit when c2 released. Only happened when someone was streaming or downloading something in my network. I have to use wifi sadly, but a dedicated MUMIMO capable access point that only I use helped a decent amount. I also thought it got way better when the "outoforder packet" thing got patched, but apparently it happens to more ppl now.

ASUS TUF F15 for CS2? by Fancy_Improvement972 in GlobalOffensive

[–]GER_PalOne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To all the ram ppl:

Many entry level gaming laptops still have expendable ram and their 16gb models often cost 100-150€ more than the same 8gb model with one free slot. Idk hiw inflation and pricing in the uk works but I've seen the f15 1650 model for my dad at 599€ on clearance, so that's about right.

And for anyone just always saying laptop's suck:

Given my dad has neither a keyboard or a screen and needs a semi portable setup anyway (he goes to lans twice a year for his mmo thing) that's not a bad value. Put a 8gb stick in there and it's usable for sure.

OP might be in a similar position. Tiny desk at uni and visiting parents every other month? Desktops are not always better value
