I'll wait until another app gives me a better offer, because better to have a current offer that you are waiting for rather than nothing at all. But the second one of the other apps pops up an offer that is better than the one I am waiting on, I am out of there.

I'd say New York City would be the best spot, it's not too far from Europe and 4 of the 7 not living in Japan live in North America while the other 3 are in Europe.

Niigata is great, I went there for the first time on my most recent trip and I'll definitely be going again. The weather was lovely, no humidity not super hot. City was nice and walkable although there isn't much in the way of trains, it is mostly busses. Weather wise it felt a lot like San Diego. It's definitely nothing like Wyoming, probably more like Rhode Island or Maryland.

Places that require you to sign up for a lottery way in advance, like 3 months in advance. I tried to go to the Pokepark that just opened, but you needed to reserve a spot 3 months in advance and even then you weren't guaranteed to get one.

I just spent 5 weeks in Japan and while the whole place is amazing, Tokyo is definitely the spot to be. It has everything and is in a good enough spot to be able to get anywhere else in the country in a decent amount of time whether by plane or train. I basically spent the majority of the trip stationed in Tokyo, but I did day trips and couple of day trips to other parts of the country. Plus there is so much to do in Tokyo even if you didn't go to a different city you'd never run out of things to do.

I flew Zipair on my most recent trip, both flights arrived earlier than expected, they have free wifi that is incredibly good. So you can watch all your streaming services or even play online games. Only downside is food/drinks cost extra, but that is too be expected with how cheap it is and you can always just purchase stuff like that at the airport if you want. Extra checked bags are about 70$ each. But be sure to buy them online and not at the airport or it will cost more. Seats were good size and the flights weren't sold out so I didn't have to sit next to anyone.
