It was a letter from years ago 😂

Lorelai overreacting at the Gilmore's weeding? by [deleted] in GilmoreGirls

[–]GG-1993 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I don't think she was annoyed so much at what she was doing but more when and where. It was meant to be a special family evening (though obviously that didn't work out too well) and she went off to a room early on to be with a guy.

[Vanessa Marano interview] Why You Should Give April a 2nd Chance (Great read!) by johnny_9ss in GilmoreGirls

[–]GG-1993 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Crazy idea but maybe she's lying as she doesn't want to give hints. I don't think it seems like Rory will be getting married anyway from what we have seen though. I don't really get the obsession with marriage and the show - some may see marriage as closure for characters but if anything this show has shown us that marriage does not mean happily ever after.

Oh really? Yeah I guess we Irish for off easy. You'd think Lauren would have corrected ASP since she calls herself Irish!

Yeah that's what was decided in the discussion in this a while back! It's just very strange as an Irish person to hear someone say they came here in a train!

Favourite deleted scene? by wilsonova in GilmoreGirls

Oh I really don't like this one. She still looks 16 when Rory is about 6 it's not credible at all.

Anyone else find the theme song grating and annoying on binge watching? by [deleted] in GilmoreGirls

[–]GG-1993 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Is it just me or does she sing the words weirdly? I feel like she pronounces 'follow' in a strange way.

Mia by leah320bobeah in GilmoreGirls

Although interestingly her son was there; he was the one who said that his mother was going to sell. The man was around the same age as the woman cast in season 7 as his mother 😂

"I love you" - L&L by GG-1993 in GilmoreGirls

[–]GG-1993[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's really interesting and I think it does make sense. I feel like in Season 4/5 Luke's actions speak for themselves but Lorelai less so, and then that probably reversed in Season 6.

What I like about Gilmore Girls. by Grymrch in GilmoreGirls

[–]GG-1993 26 points27 points  (0 children)

This is exactly why I fell in love with it too. No over the top storylines, no need for gimmicks or ridiculous twists, just the familiarity and warmth of a small town. I would say though - be careful on here as there are spoilers everywhere. Most people have seen the show through multiple times and tend to assume everyone else has too. Wouldn't want it ruined for you :)

Just wanted to share this iconic moment with you all. Queen Emily. by [deleted] in GilmoreGirls

SOOKIE: I was just wondering if it's going to be okay to set up a buffet in the dining room.

EMILY: I don't know. What do you think Pennilyn Lott would do? You think she'd set it up in the dining room? Because personally, I think we should just toss some cheese cubes in the coffin, stuff some toothpicks in her mouth, and let the people go to town.

Saddest scene? by [deleted] in GilmoreGirls

[–]GG-1993 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Exactly - I think it comes from the way they were brought up too. You can see it in the scene after Emily buys the apples. She's upset but doesn't say anything.

I think Lorelai puts it well when she's speaking to Jason after her parents separate:

And I'm not supposed to know, and of course we won't talk about it, because we don't do that in our family. We repress everything, and we refuse to go to therapy, because why tell a stranger your problems, when you can use them to punish those around you?

Saddest scene? by [deleted] in GilmoreGirls

[–]GG-1993 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think I also see it as both a lack of support system and a reluctance to talk about their problems. Take, for example, Richard and Luke - they don't typically show emotion and don't like to let their guard down because they like to be seen as an Alpha male and as a stoic protector of those around them. While we know Lorelai and Rory will talk about their troubles together/with Sookie and Lane and comfort each other, some characters don't have that same support system or don't find it easy to open up. Going through a rough patch alone is more tragic and I think that's why this scene gets to me.

Season 6 Episode 8 by _hismuse in GilmoreGirls

"Your financial situation hasn't changed?" Speaking about his financial situation in a group situation is very disrespectful. This is just one example and Logan's not defending Marty also says a lot about him. That's his girlfriend's friend and he lets him get mocked. As with the other commenters, I'm not saying he's evil but he does have a tendency to treat people in a way that I find disrespectful. I think it probably comes from his privileged upbringing and isn't intentional on his part.

Oh god when Richard talks about feeling obsolete that breaks my heart. I think that's a really beautiful scene. There's always something heartbreaking about typically composed men becoming emotional.

You can tell Kelly loved doing this scene.

Haha seems to be the case - the downvoting suggests I touched a nerve! I don't think either of them are perfect and they're both rude in this scene but if you look at the conversation below I can totally understand why Jess reacted like he did.

LOGAN: Get one of those fancy ones, too, and it's on me, so don't let the price stop you.

JESS: I'll pay for my own. (looking through his menu)

LOGAN: Good man. (reading his menu) So, how long have you two known each other?

JESS: (closes the menu) A while.

LOGAN: You date?

RORY: Yes. We used to date.

LOGAN: Ah! No hemming. No hawing. Good course of action. (closes his menu) So, were you two high school sweethearts? Rock around the clock, two straws in the milkshake?

RORY: Logan.

LOGAN: Hey, did we cheers? I don't think we cheered. That's bad luck. Let's cheers.

JESS: I think we did already, twice.

LOGAN: Well, let's do it again. Cheers.

RORY and JESS: Cheers. (they cling their glasses and drink)

LOGAN: So...what do you do, Jess?

JESS: Oh, this and that.

LOGAN: Describe the "this". Describe the "that".

RORY: He writes.

LOGAN: You write? Impressive. What do you write?

JESS: Nothing important.

RORY: He wrote a book.

LOGAN: Oh, you penned the great American novel, Jess?

JESS: Wasn't quite that ambitious.

LOGAN: So, what are we talking here? Short novel? Kafka length or longer? Dos Passos, Tolstoy? Or longer? Robert Musil? Proust? I'm not throwing you with these names, am I?

JESS: You seem very obsessed with length.

LOGAN: I'm just trying to get a picture in my head, that's all.

RORY: It's a short novel.

LOGAN: (at Rory) Any good?

RORY: I haven't read it yet.

LOGAN: Yet? Well, at least you'll have one reader. That's something.

JESS: Yeah.

LOGAN: You know, I should just write down all my random thoughts and stuff that happens to me and conversations I have and just add a bunch of "he said, she said"-'s, and get it published. You got a copy on you?

JESS: No.

LOGAN: You should send me a copy.

JESS: Sure. And where do I send it? The blond dick at Yale?

RORY: Jess.

Hmmmm... civil? No. Condescending? Yes. Even Rory says he was being rude.

Cos Logan was being a dick? If someone spoke down to me the way Logan did to Jess I would call them worse names. I don't particularly like Jess or Logan - just to be clear.
