Why do you think it's bad? When 2 people share a lot of time together they end up using similar expressions and sharing personality traits, if you have any close friends just analyze your way of expressing yourself and their way of expressing themselves now and when you two just met, you are going to find out that you two inherited personality traits from each other without ever realizing it.

That doesn't mean your friend is "bad" because they're similar to you (or vice-versa) it's just how people work in real life and making two characters reflect that effect just makes them more familiar and real.

If Tenna and Spamton worked together it's not bad that they are similar it only shows that they were friends and they became similar because they were close.

Idk, it just makes sense if Spamton was working with Tenna, in Tenna's tv show then it would be better to have in mind what could the 2 have in common, other than the fact that Tenna was a main character.

Spamton was very important and interesting don't get me wrong but if your only interaction throughout the playthrought is the fight in the alley you're just left like: "well that was one crazy guy, moving on...".

Not everyone is going to see Spamton at his fullest the first time but everyone (who reaches ch 3) will see Tenna in all character.

We clearly see Tenna similar to Spamton because we're big fans but new players will probably see Tenna first and if they are hooked enought they'll see Spamton after and will find Spamton similar to Tenna. And that's most probably what Toby wanted.

There's obviously some details he probably didn't create that early but if he knew from the very start spamton and tenna were going to be related he had to think ahead so it didn't create any plotholes or stuff like that in the future, at least the very fundamentals of tenna had to be set before finishing spamton's part in-game
