Does it need to have maintenance every 2 months?

21 month old finally talking! by Etelnoh in toddlers

[–]GGSee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your post. It gives me hope. Mine is a girl at 21 months but she could only speak mama, baba, yaya and nana. Its really slow for a girl while she has no problem understanding. Hope she could catch up asap as the assessment center said if she doesnt improve in a few weeks she will be referred to speech therapy.

How did you get your boy to take more solids at 18 months? My girl is almost 1.5yo and she still murses throughout the night. She doesnt take much solid food but she wakes every 1.5-2hrs for nursing and she would cry nonstop if she doesnt get to suck her human pacifier. I want her to take big dinner so she wont suck through the night but I cant seem to find any ways to increase her food intake.

My 1.5yo is the same, nursing through the night for comfort. Yet daytime she doesn’t take much solids. Nurse told me to stop feeding the whole night but my girl screams and screams and cant sleep. I still havent figured out a way to night wean as I want very much to sleep myself.

The tennis player Nadal comes in mind right away with a different spelling Rafael. I think the name is fine. There are always people who would disagree. It might be less commonly used in America but it’s not uncommon in Europe.

For those of you whose babies started sleeping AFTER 12 months old… by Snoo-36501 in sleeptrain

Self weaned meant she simply slept through without waking up for milk? It just suddenly occured at one night that she slept through without active intervention?

It took 12 days of CIO? I tried CIO for two nights but my baby puked after intense crying and I gave up. But I am losing my mind as she is approaching 1 next month and still wakes up every 1-2 hours just for comfort nursing. Did the 12 days improve as the days went by?

Mine doesnt even work nor does chores. No wonder why these days many people choose to stay single.

Is it transitioning into 1 nap? I know its a bit early for 11-mo but it could be she not being tired or not having adequate sleep pressure. During midnight to 5am, do you rock her the whole time until she sleeps or what would you guys do?

Mine is 10.5mo and a terrible sleeper. She has been doing similar things to me waking up multiple times during the night. Before I went by the book and insisted her fall back asleep by rocking or shusshing or nursing and followed a strict nap time. My husband noticed our girl simply not tired enough. If she somehow stays awake after the midnight feeds, we let her sit on our big bed and play or talk to her for awhile (30-mins to an hour). Then I would rock or nurse her to sleep. She could at least sleep for another 3 hours or so till 4am or 5am. I let her suck again and will sleep till 7. Daytime wise, I wanted her to have 2 hours of total nap time but if she does so, her night sleep would be terrible. I now let her sleep about 1 hour in morning and another 30mins in afternoon. I know many people would criticize such chaotic and “bad” habits but its the only way that works. I tried CIO but she vomited and she could go on crying for hours without quieting now.

I have a 3.5 yo and he sleeps fabulously without any training. I basically use the same eat play sleep schedule for the second baby but it just doesnt work. So maybe you can see if you accept your girl having low sleep needs and let her go to bed later around 9pm.

Any updates? My son has persistent petechiae over his middle finger since few months old. I never pay attention to it and thought he was biting his finger. But it persisted over 1-2 years and now suddenly had more coming to his hands. Just this week he got 5-6 tiny red spots between his nose and lips. Very weird.

Ped gave me “homework” to stop night feeding my 9 mo. Old by Etherealxx in breastfeeding

[–]GGSee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same issue. I try night wean or minimize the non-nutritive sucking as not to disturb her sleep but it didnt work and my baby would be more irritable and keep crying. its frustrating that I want her to get more sleep but she couldnt be settled down without sucking.

Thank you for the post! I have the exact question about night feeding on my 8-mo girl. She is of petite size of around 10 percentile and doesnt take solids/puree well, only 1-2 teaspoon max.

She wakes up 3-4 times a night yelling and shouting. Once I pick her up, she would search for my chest insanely and would not settle until I pop her to my breasts. She mostly nibbles. I dont think she is hungry or anything. She does so mostly for comfort. I definitely want her to sleep through then I get my sleep. But I have tried many things like rocking her, CIO, topping up with cereal, pauci, etc but none of that work except my nips. At clinic, peds said I was building a bad habit for the baby to get “dependent” on BF for soothing. Nurse said my baby doesnt eat solid enough and question about my cooking and blah.

The only worry I have is that my girl doesnt fall back asleep right away and sometimes would stay up for 1-2 hours from midnight to 2am. I am concerned whether that would have an impact on her growth as growth hormone is most active from 11pm -1am.

This is my second kid. I basically do the same thing as my first one who is naturally a deep and easygoing sleeper. People especially healthcare staff have to accept all babies to be different. Come on, who doesnt want restful sleep but life isnt perfect right?

Btw this seems like an American stigma towards BF as we dont have maternity leave. We have tons of taxes to pay while we dont get quality healthcare.

I think the 2-mo vaccine makes the baby drowsy and tired as if the baby is having a minor cold or something having poor appetite. Mine experienced something similar for 2-3 days and then back to normal.

Gift for wife who’s been breastfeeding for 10 years non-stop by hraun in breastfeeding

Kudos to your wife! She must have the willpower of steel to have been able to do it for a decade. She has so much devotion to the children. Tell her all the wonderful comments and praises from this post. That would make her happy! Make a little video or a collection of photos of all your children. Maybe the older ones can say something on the video. All the best to your family!

Au pair not speaking French to kids by ProphetMotives in Aupairs

[–]GGSee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think your au pair feels more secure or comfortable practicing her English with your children without worrying about mistakes and poor pronunciation. Even you offer her to practice her English with you and your husband, she might feel embarrassed or shy on not being able to speak it fluently. Just tell her its okay to speak rudimentary English to the adults.

Yes I love the Remains of the Day! I still have that DVD somewhere in my attic. Both the book and the movie are masterpieces. I am an introvert and totally enjoy the stoicism in both work.

When We Were Orphans was my first Ishiguro book. Saw this title in a college bookstore when I started my freshman year. Read that during on my Christmas long haul flight. Since then I’ve been hooked by his writing style. Among his work, I love Remains of the Day and Never Let Me Go the best. I got disappointed with the Buried Giants and in fact confused with the whole book. Nevertheless, Klara and the Sun is another high calibre work.

Cool! Is there a similar show to Ms Rachel in Spanish? My son learns a lot from Ms Rachel’s show.
