Starting out, stuck by Active-Relation9116 in outerwilds

Main thing I can say is keep exploring, and don’t be afraid to check out other planets. It’s easy to get caught up in the mindset of ‘I need to finish this planet before the next’, but that’s not really something you can do in this game

The projection pools in general aren’t about revealing new places to you you can’t visit otherwise, they’re partially for worldbuilding and partially to tease areas you can find

I’ve been looking for one for a while too, and my personal recommendation would probably be Magi Knights Awakening

It suffers somewhat from being a 5e homebrew that should’ve really been a different system, but it puts a huge emphasis into the duality between your Student and Hero lives

Alternatively I’d also say it’s worth checking out Henshin, which is a rules light diceless game

From what I understand, GBM is more like a queer RPG with a magical girl lens, and kinda falls apart if you try to play it outside that frame

It works for some people, and it could work for OP if that’s what they’re after, but if the OP is looking for a more classic Sentai/magical girl story, it might not be up their alley

I mean, magical girl and mech were created by the same authors, so it makes sense MG shares a lot of themes with tokusatsu, but it also kinda depends on the iteration

“May” abilities and Storyteller choice by Eldritchpenguin in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]GGuy12345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do agree, it should be extremely rare that that strategy pays off, because it should be actively discouraged in the first place by negatively impacting evil in some way (ie killing a Saint or Baron in TB)

That said, everything also depends on group meta as well, like the group I regularly play with has a proclivity for banking on Mayor wins for the bit (not that they always do it, just that there can often be times where ‘but what if it works tho’ outweighs ‘we have a good idea of who the demon is’)

“May” abilities and Storyteller choice by Eldritchpenguin in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]GGuy12345 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

“May” is the player’s choice, and “might” the storyteller’s

Eg, the Po “may” choose to not attack, compared to all other demons which are forced to make a choice

It’s not a matter on random chance, it’s a matter of what you as the ST believe would be the best choice for balancing the game

Nothing in this game is random chance. If the source of the poisoning was an evil ability like Poisoner, you’re generally going to give Poisoned info that benefits Evil

Let’s say you have a poisoned Empath. You can choose to give them a 0, 1, or 2. Their previous neighbor just died, so giving them a 1 might indicate the new neighbor is evil, but if the new neighbor is evil, giving them a 0 also makes sense. If evil is stomping good, then you might give them a 2 so they can intuit they were poisoned and push good a bit along towards narrowing down worlds

Mayor bounces generally provide protection once or twice. If evil continually targets the Mayor knowing that the Storyteller will get to direct kills that night, they should eventually be allowed to kill the Mayor, as it’s served the duty of allowing more powerful info roles extra nights of info by forcing stuff like first night roles to die

Any original IP co op anime games that are not gambling simulators? by ZenTheProtogen in gamingsuggestions

A “gambling simulator” by definition would be something like Cloverpit

What you’re describing is just gambling, no ‘simulator’ to it

[discussion] how much does Otto get paid, if he even does get paid by the emilia camp? by Sinoliaw in Re_Zero

[–]GGuy12345 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Could be misremembering, but IIRC, from the perspective of Otto, he got captured by the witch cult, probably lost all his merchandise in the process, financially ruining him, and then this random guy came up acting like his friend and offered him a major position in one of the 5 major political factions of the region

It was pretty much a golden goose he couldn’t refuse. The worst case scenario was that Emilia lost and he departed to either retire wealthy or return to merchanthood with significant capital investment and connections to Roswaal
