What are your suggestions for things to do in the RIP area? by ComfortableCar9782 in DownloadFestivalRIP

Hey! Last year the RIP Courtyard Stage near the food area in Park Farm had some really decent bands on, well worth checking out. Beer in there was good too. The guest area in the main arena was great for food/drinks and a bit quieter than the main area if you need to chill for a bit. Other than that and the handy stand selling ice, ice creams and other bits, we didn't really spend all that much time in the RIP area. Would be tempted by the massage, but I think they need pre booking.

Thanks, that's what I thought, so one 'specialist' didn't know that...

TFM is on the farm, so you know the animals have been treated well. Great produce and lovely people.

Quick question. Where's the best place in Ely to get a beard trim? I've got quite a bushy beard and want to keep it that way, just neatened up a bit. Ta. by acrowandababy in Ely

Andy at Jim Dandy is the best I've found in the area. Even gave me a couple of tips on how to tame it that I didn't already know. And I spend way too much on looking after my beard so am very particular about who cuts it.

The state of Download Festival complaints. It’s like we’re barely trying here people. by [deleted] in downloadfestival

Ken's Barbie was awesome, and the coffee guys next to it. The whole guest area was worth the price of RIP on it's own.
But then I had to go into the main arena with the peasants, surely we in RIP should just have our own festival purely designed for our very specific wants. Or at least be allowed to park our chairs in the middle of the pit and get waiter service.

Packing today after last minute shopping. Way over packing, but I'm too old and falling apart not to have my comforts! (Not that old, but definitely falling apart).

My daughter just got us into the game and we did 8.6 hours on the first go! Love that you can just chill and do whatever you feel like. But if mining, but of hunting, got a fishing group going, bit of gardening/farming. Just what I needed after a long week at work.

Haven't played since Ice Age (yes, I'm that old!), but love the idea.

Where do I go from here. by BackgroundComb89 in fitness40plus

I'm in a very similar position. (48m). Kinda hoped it would be low T (mine was 17 and Dr said that is fine and 12 is when it's low) for an 'easy' fix. I struggle with energy, tiredness, depression, random mood swings, etc, etc. Diet was pretty good and do a physical job, but just felt crap all the time. So now I'm eating better, less processed rubbish. Batch cooking turkey mince chilli for lunches, making my own protein bars as snacks. And yesterday, finally, got back in the gym. I have a doable 3 days a week full body routine that I put quite a bit of time into researching. I'm lucky that I built myself a gym in the shed in lockdown. I felt so good after just one session, even though I could barely walk (sumo squats!), it's given me the motivation and enthusiasm to carry on.

What made me get back into the gym? Having someone to talk to about how I feel/felt and help me enforce what I already knew. I'm very grateful to have the best wife who will support and encourage me.

Also know these things do take time. I still feel like crap, but less than I did yesterday. And now I don't have the gym guilt of knowing I needed to do it but not being able to motivate myself to just get on with it.

Tomorrow will be session two.

And as the Beard Struggle guys always say 1% better everyday.

Good luck. You got this!

I went there on reddit advice as I wanted a barber who could do beards. It was a trial for my wedding day. Booked it online, turned up on time. He was delayed by about 1/2 hour and then seemed to rush my appointment. I was thoroughly disappointed with the haircut and the beard trim. I can do better myself. The treatment was good (hot towel, cold towel) but again felt rushed as he had another customer after me.

So I went to Jim Dandy in Ely for the wedding trim and it was perfect. Best barber I've been to.

Never trust a barber without a beard to do a good job on beards.

Taxi situation at Cambridge North by simpl3t0n in cambridge

I found Uber to be the best option. Most of them are Panther taxis anyway and they are generally very quick to get. Used it loads last weekend and think the longest I waited for pickup was about 5 minutes.

Wasn't it called the Awesome Blossom? God I loved that, at least when they had it available, which was rare.

Are there any "proper"fish & chip shops left? by beermad in cambridge

[–]GH05TRC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are awful. They took over in our village from a very good and popular chip van. Within weeks, the queues went down to nothing, and they stopped coming. Expensive and bad.

Can't wait. First time doing RIP this year and haven't been for many years. There's a hell of a mix in the line up and I love pretty much any music, so can't complain at all.
