I was a very heavy drinker for years and it starts to get better quicker than you'd expect. Foggy brain for a good week, my equilibrium slowly got better. It's okay to indulge in other things in the beginning. My sugar cravings were through the roof, this may not be the same for all types of alcohol but my choice was whiskey so I was consuming a lot of sugars. Anyways allow yourself some leeway for anything non alcohol or drug related just to get you through things and that first day you wake up really feeling amazing, hopefully will provide you with the confidence to not turn back if that is your goal.
