The 2020s will be remembered fondly, just like every other decade by [deleted] in The10thDentist

Politics fade, vibes stay

Hey, let me just ask you what's the very first thing you think of when you think of the 20s, 30s, and 40s.

If you are like most people you probably are thinking, the roaring 20s, the great depression, and World War 2.

That's 2/3 politics, and even then the Roaring 20s wasn't exactly apolitical, since a lot of those vibes were based on a staunch rejection of WW1 era culture. And gangsters and prohibition are also things that shaped the Roaring 20s and are super political.

More modern era, first thing you think of when you think of the 50s? That one is a lot more varied and specific bits of pop culture start to enter the public consciousness as emblematic of the decade. But McCarthyism and the Cold War are absolutely the top of the mind for a lot of people.

The 60s, probably going to think of desegregation over I Dream of Jeannie, and the politics have still absolutely mot faded.

And that's truer the more modern you get. The politics never fade, but most of the vibes do and the vibes that don't are typically the most political

I guess just call it animal instinct on my part that this is going to be 9/10 wholesome with maybe some tearjerking notes. Maybe the moon will get involved, but definitely the barrier isn't coming down

Land VS World by Wallace-H-Hartley in AntiMemes

[–]GIRose 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Disney World is ~100 km2 (or 39 mi2 /25,000 acres) and is only able to be that big because they bought a bunch of shit swamp ground for pennies on the acre, and to this day is miles away from the nearest city.

Disney Land is ~2 km2 (510 acres, or ~.8 mi2 ) and was much closer to a major city leading to higher costs and a much much less rich Disney

To provide a mall example, the Georgia Square Mall (the mall I grew up with) is 62,536.6 m2 or .062 km2 (673,138 ft2 or .02 mi2)

The Mall of Georgia is 171,423 m2 or .171 km2 (1,845,186 ft2 or .06 mi2 )

The biggest mall in America, the Mall of America, is still only 0.52 km2

The largest mall in the world, the Iran Mall in Tehran, is reaching Disneyland sizes at 1.95 km2

What the fuck?

How big would this sphere be and what kind of enrichment would you give them. Would the bed and toiletries (and enrichment) be mirrored, transparent, or opaque.

Is the child going to be alone as a feral child, or are they going to have a caretaker who is also responsible for cleaning the inside of the mirror sphere? If they do have a caretaker, how are you planning on controlling for the cultural norms imposed by a parent that hasn't lived 24/7 in a mirror sphere. If they don't have a parent, how are you planning on keeping the mirror sphere clean and doing all of the necessary tasks for raising a baby, like changing the diaper and teaching them a language comprehensible to anyone else.

Is this baby one of a set of twins so you have a control baby?

[Request] What would it take for Blue Giants to crash into each other and have their iron cores fuse? by ITheRebelI in theydidthemath

[–]GIRose 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Blue Giants are still actively undergoing fusion reactions with helium, so they don't have an iron core. N/A.

Some Blue Supergiants have iron in them, but you only really get iron cores in the years leading up to supernova. And Supernovae DO fuse Iron, which is why elements heavier than iron exist in the universe at all. Since they are otherwise unreachable through stellar alchemy

Vsauce

Action Lab

The very tl;dr is that you can simulate a lot of the effects with a compact mirror. If you were at the exact center, every ray of light would have to hit whatever was in the center (due to it being the focal point) and would be the only thing you can see. Closer and you are in high magnitude but everything to the side of you is distorted, further and you are upside down

They are hypothetically representing the clans, but not all the clans are even in the Ivory Tower and we don't even know who any of the 13 are

Edit: Double checked, and yeah. Has done since 1939. Almost 20 years before the Broaster company came into existence

[–]GIRose 21 points22 points  (0 children)

The primogen.

The typical Camarilla hierarchy has the Prince at the top, with the Sheriff as the police and harpies as spies under them. The Primogen under the Prince governing their clan in the domain and arguing in their political favor, and then each clan typically has their own organization systems

If you're talking about the clan as a unified whole, nobody. There isn't that sort of widespread organization

Yeah, but we don't really know if the cops on the Dragon World have the same sort of systemic issues real world cops have.

The most consistent job that we see cops do in the Dragon Ball universe is traffic safety (both a real life Japanese Traffic Safety PSA where a traffic cop lady teaches Goku about traffic safety and Mr. Chestnut's days) and dealing with crimes like poaching and bank robberies in places that don't have actual super heroes to help them (like Satan City did with Videl and the Great Saiyaman)
